Knit
Legwarmers
You need:
200 yards worsted yarn (100 for each leg)
4.5mm double pointed knitting needles (4)
cable needle
Sizes:
I made these to fit my leg. Ankle, 8 inches, calf 13 inches.
They have k2, p2 panels to help fit a variety of sizes. The
actual legging measures (laying flat) 3 inches at the bottom
cuff and 5 inches at the top cuff. It stretches A LOT. I can
stretch the top up to 9 inches (laying flat) and the bottom up
to 5 inches. Gauge: k2, p2 in the round, 14 sts in 2 inches
Terms Used:
legging is worked in the round from bottom up.
you will need to use a stretchy cast on
k - knit p- purl
m1 - pick up stitch from previous row, knit into it (makes one
stitch from previous row)
k1fb - knit into the next stitch twice (the front and back) to
make 2 stitches from 1
k2tog - knit two stitches together like they are 1
cabling - slip stitches to cable needle, hold to front/back, knit
required stitches, knit cable stitches.

(stretchy) cast on 12 stitches on each needle for a total of 48 stitches.

Finishing
OPTION ONE (right)
So, you have two options for finishing. You can
Switch to 3.5mm knitting needles and k2, p2 around for two inches (15
rounds) Bind off in a stretchy bind off. I use the sewn bind off.
OPTION TWO (left)
or, if you don't want to switch needle sizes, you can do this (making sure
you have all your sts dividied evenly on four needles still)
R1: *K6, K2tog, P2, K4, K2tog, K2, P2, K2, P2tog* around
R2: *K2, P2, K2, P2tog, P1, *K2, P2,**, until end of needle. repeat from
first star four times total.
R3: *K2, P2* around
Repeat R3 until top measures 2 inches. (15 times for me)
Bind off with a stretchy bind off. I used the sewn bind off.
I like the way option two looks, but it's up to you.
