This initiative is an attempt to act in compliance with the directives set
forth by the ministry of education through the release of a series of
announcements and circulars because of Covid 19 pandemic. Aware of its
pivotal responsibilities, the ELT community at Beni Mellal Directorate didn’t
hesitate to contribute to the processes accompanying the implementation of
the newly-adopted instructional modalities. This workbook is the fruit of a
workshop organized by the supervisory staff at Beni Mellal Directorate. It is a
compilation of tasks designed by middle school teachers from ten institutions.
The aim is to help third grade students region-wide/ nationwide to practice
English and master its components at their own convenience.
This humble work tries to cover the themes targeted in the ten units of
the textbooks used in Beni Mellal-Khenifra region. Each unit integrates tasks
that target the practice and consolidation of competencies related to different
language components and skills:
 Vocabulary sections include learning opportunities that aim at developing
students’ linguistic repertoire with more emphasis on vocabulary learning
strategies (VLS) that facilitate understanding, internalizing and retrieving the
target vocabulary;
 Communication sections provide a myriad of tasks and activities to practice
the functions included in each unit;
 Grammar sections allow students to practice the grammatical structures
covered in face-to-face classes;
 Skills work parts offer further opportunities to effectively develop students
listening, speaking, reading & writing skills;
 Study skill sections target developing students’ autonomy as learners;
We all hope this educational resource will serve self-study purposes and
assist students in their efforts to blend it with in-person learning.
Warm thanks should go to the supervisors for their non-stop help and
guidance. Special thanks should equally go to all the teachers who have
contributed to this work and to the drafting/editing committee for their
diligence and great sense of responsibility.
