The DZ range of Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCB) is a culmination of innovation.
Designed to meet the requirements of today’s evolving electrical systems in modern installations, the range
features significantly higher fault breaking capacities.
Considering the changing expectations of customers and a need for economical and reliable solution, we

• Ambient Temperature Compensation :
Solar applications are mainly outdoor installations and hence the ambient temperature has direct impact on
tripping characteristics of MCCB according to the time of the day, season or location. For example, ambient
temperature is very low in some areas of Jammu & Kashmir where a conventional MCCB will take higher time
to trip, where as ambient temperature is very high in desert areas of Rajasthan where a conventional MCCB
will take lesser time to trip.
In order to cater to this variation, all - DZ MCCBs are ambient temperature compensated, which means the trip
ping characteristics will remain constant irrespective of ambient temperature up to 55°C.

Altitude Correction Factors


Altitude does not affect circuit breaker characteristics up to 2000m. Above this altitude, it is necessary to take
into account the decrease in the dielectric strength and cooling capacity of air. Altitude reduces Rated Impulse
Withstand and Insulation Voltage too.

Altitude derating of OMEGA ACBs


As altitude rises from sea level, the density of that air reduces dramatically. Reduced air density at altitudes greater
than 2000 meters affects the ability of a circuit breaker to transfer heat and interrupt faults compared with sea
level.The ability of fault interruption reduces with the increase of altitute because di-electric strength of air also
reduces with density.
