Tools to study the earth
Globe
1. Earth is huge in size.
2. Globe is a small round model of Earth.
3. A globe tells us how the oceans, countries are placed on the Earth's surface.
Disadvantages of globe
1. One half of the earth can be seen at the time on a globe. We need to rotate the globe to
see the other half.
2. Due to its small size, it's not possible to study the places on the globe in detail.
3. It is difficult to carry the globe from one place to another.
Map
1. Map is a drawing of the Earth on a flat surface.
2. Land and water bodies can be viewed at one glance on a map.
3. Map can be folded and carried easily.
4. Very large maps are called wall maps which can be hung on the walls.
5. Special book of maps are called atlas.
6. Cartographers are people who make maps.

Pacific Ocean is the deepest and the largest ocean in the world.
Continents
Large areas of land on the earth surface are called continents.
Land in each continent is available in different forms called landforms.
There are seven continents namely

7. Australia
Asia is the biggest continent in the world.
Australia is the smallest continent in the world.
