#_There is 5 upagrahas, or Kalavelas called also Muhurta-velas, Venus and moon have no Kalavela

(1) Kaala , gives the same results as rahu in the chart (good or bad), rises at the middle of Sun’s part. In other words, we find the
time at the middle of Sun’s part and find
lagna rising then. That gives Kaala’s longitude.
(2) Mrityu , gives the same results as mars in the chart (good or bad), rises at the middle of Mars’s part.
(3) Artha, gives the same results as mercury in the chart (good or bad), Praharaka rises at the middle of Mercury’s part.
(4) Yamakantaka is powerful in confering benefits, gives the same results as jupiter in the chart good or bad), YamaGhantaka rises
at the middle of Jupiter’s part..
(5) Gulika , gives the same results as saturn in the chart (good or bad), Gulika rises at the middle of Saturn’s part.
(6) Maandi is an extra kavela, it rises at the end of Saturn’s part (that is why Mandi= slow, is always after Gulika), all others rises
in the middle part of their father/lord.

#_There is 5 Aprakash Grahas (sins); Dhuma, Vyatipata, Parivesha, Chapa, Upaketu, it is very inauspicious when these upagrahas
conjunct the sun or the moon, it will destroy the dynasty or descendants, the longevity and the wisdom.
The effect of non-luminous planets will come during the main period or sub period of their dispositor. for each Upagraha and Muhurta Vela, the
dispositor should invariably be considered before coming to a conclusion.. it is very inauspicious when these upagrahas conjunct the sun or the
moon, it will destroy the dynasty or descendants, the longevity and the wisdom.

Jyotish_BPHS_Santhanam_Vol.1; If the Upakhetu (or upagraha, vide sloka 5 ch. 32) is in its exaltation sign, or own/friendly sign,
and is devoid of malefic aspect, the native will go to heavens after death
