Thể Động từ tobe Động từ thường
 S + was/ were + ……
Trong đó:
S = I/ He/ She/ It + was  S + V-ed
S= We/ You/ They + were Ví dụ:

định (+) Ví dụ: We studied English last night.
I was at my friend’s house (Tối qua chúng tôi đã học tiếng
yesterday morning. Anh.)
(Tôi đã ở nhà bạn tôi sáng hôm
qua.)

 S + did not + V (nguyên thể)

 S + was/were not + ……
Trong thì quá khứ đơn câu phủ định
Trong đó: ta mượn trợ động từ “did + not” (viết
was not = wasn’t tắt là “didn’t), động từ theo sau ở
Phủ dạng nguyên thể.)
were not = weren’t
định (-)
Ví dụ: Ví dụ:

We weren’t at home yesterday. He didn’t come to school last week.

(Hôm qua chúng tôi không ở nhà.) (Tuần trước cậu ta không đến
trường.)

Nghi vấn Was/Were+ S + V(nguyên thể)?  Did + S + V(nguyên thể)?

2. Cách dùng
 Diễn tả một hành động, sự việc đã diễn ra tại một thời điểm cụ thể, hoặc
một khoảng thời gian trong quá khứ và đã kết thúc hoàn toàn ở quá
khứ.
VD: My sister came home late last night. (Chị gái tôi về nhà muộn đêm qua.)
 Diễn tả một hành động lặp đi lặp lại trong quá khứ.
VD: They always enjoyed going to the zoo. (Họ đã luôn luôn thích thú khi đi thăm
vườn bách thú.)
 Diễn đạt các hành động xảy ra liên tiếp trong quá khứ.
VD: Anna came home, took a nap, then had lunch. (Laura về nhà, ngủ một giấc, rồi
ăn trưa.)
 Diễn đạt một hành động xen vào một hành động đang diễn ra trong quá
khứ.
VD: When Jane was cooking breakfast, the lights suddenly went out. (Khi Jane
đang nấu bữa sáng thì đột nhiên đèn tắt.)

Last week: Tuần trước
