Unlocking of Difficulties
• Carpet is a piece of fabric, usually made of
wool, nylon, or polyester, that is used to cover
the floor in a room or area. It can be wall-to-wall
(covering the entire floor) or a smaller rug.
• Dislodges means to remove or force
something out of its usual or proper position. It
often refers to something being shifted,
detached, or displaced from where it was
originally. For example, if an object falls and gets
moved from its place, it has been dislodged.
• Ceiling is the upper interior surface of a
room or building. It is the part of the structure
that covers the space above you and is typically
made of materials like drywall, plaster, or wood.
The ceiling can serve both functional and
decorative purposes, such as hiding structural
elements (like beams or wiring) and enhancing
the room's aesthetics.

1. Explicitation
Cleaning equipment refers to a variety of tools and
machines used for cleaning different surfaces, spaces, or
objects. These tools help maintain hygiene and cleanliness
in homes, offices, industrial settings, and other
environments.
When choosing cleaning equipment for a large
commercial space, several important factors should be
considered to ensure that the equipment is effective,
efficient, and cost-effective. Here are some key factors to
keep in mind:
1. Size and Layout of the Space
• Area Coverage: Consider the size of the commercial
space. Larger areas may require more powerful or
industrial-grade equipment, such as ride-on floor
scrubbers or high-capacity vacuums.
• Layout: If the space has a complex layout with tight
corners or many obstacles, choose equipment with
maneuverability, such as walk-behind models or
machines with swivel heads or adjustable handles.
2. Type of Flooring
• Floor Material: Different types of flooring (carpet,
tile, hardwood, concrete, etc.) may require
specialized equipment. For instance, a carpet
shampoo machine is ideal for carpets, while a floor

Understanding or concrete.
• Condition of Flooring: If the flooring has heavy
dirt, stains, or wear, choose more powerful
equipment or those with specialized brushes and
cleaning solutions.
3. Cleaning Frequency
• Daily vs. Periodic Use: Determine how frequently
the space needs to be cleaned. For high-traffic
areas, you may need equipment that can handle
daily use, such as robust vacuums or scrubbers.
• Heavy-Duty vs. Light Cleaning: If deep cleaning is
required periodically (e.g., monthly or quarterly),
consider specialized equipment like steam cleaners
or carpet extractors.
4. Energy and Water Efficiency
• Energy Consumption: Choose energy-efficient
equipment to reduce long-term operating costs.
Look for machines with Energy Star ratings or
those designed to minimize electricity use.
• Water Usage: For environmentally conscious
cleaning, consider machines that use minimal
water, such as low-water pressure washers or
steam cleaners that reduce water waste.
5. Noise Levels
• Noise Concerns: In a commercial setting, noise can
be an issue, especially in open office spaces or areas
where customers and employees are present. Look
for quieter models or equipment with noise
reduction features to minimize disruption.

The teacher will show pictures of the various cleaning

equipment and asked the students to identify it and
explain the functions. The teacher will correct and give
feedback to the answers of student.

1. Floor scrubber Polisher-is a powerful cleaning

machine used to scrub, clean, and polish floors. It’s
commonly used in commercial, industrial, and
large residential settings.

2. Vacuum cleaner-Machines that use suction to

remove dust, dirt, and debris from floors, carpets,
and upholstery.

3. Upholstery Steam Cleaner-is a cleaning device

specifically designed to clean fabric and
upholstered furniture using steam. It works by
generating hot steam that is applied to the surface
of furniture to remove dirt, stains, and odors
without the need for harsh chemicals.
4. High Pressure Washer- also known as a pressure
washer, is a powerful cleaning tool that uses high-
pressure water spray to clean various surfaces. It’s
typically used to remove dirt, grime, mold, mildew,
loose paint, and other debris from hard surfaces.

5. Carpet shampoo machine-is a cleaning device

specifically designed to deep clean carpets and
rugs. It works by applying a special carpet shampoo
or cleaning solution to the carpet, agitating the
fibers to lift dirt, stains, and debris, and then
extracting the dirt and moisture from the carpet.

2. Worked Example
How does a carpet shampoo machine work, and what
are its benefits?

3. Lesson Activity
Students will be grouped again into two groups for another
activity. This activity is called “Pictionary”. One member
from each group is going to come in front and draw the
tool that I give to them. You will let your groupmates
identify what you are drawing by writing their answer on
the board. You only have 80 seconds to draw and the first
group to correctly guess the word wins. Every correct
answer is 10 points.
These are the words that they are going to draw.
1. Floor Scrubber
2. Vacuum Cleaner
3. Carpet machine Shampoo

D. Making Generalizations 1. Learners’ Takeaways

The teacher will ask the learners:
1. What factors should you consider when choosing
cleaning equipment for a large commercial space?
2. How often should you maintain or replace
cleaning equipment to ensure its efficiency?

2. Reflection on Learning
The teacher will ask the learners to explain the
importance of cleaning equipment. The teacher will call
selected learners to share their answers. How does this
lesson help you to better understand the importance of
keeping your home clean and organized while making sure
the safety and efficiency?
