Part1
Where are you from?
I am from a breathtaking little town named Székelykeresztúr, situated in the heart of Transylvania, near
Udvarhely. It is a nice, clean, quiet place and it is somewhat famous for the fact that the well-known poet,
Petőfi Sándor, spent his last night and wrote there his last poem under a pear tree.
What do you do here/there?
As I’m in a boarding school here, in Udvarhely, I’m at home only on weekends or during holidays. This is
why I try to make the most of the hours spent in my peaceful hometown, reconnect with my loved ones, and
recharge my batteries. However, I always participate in local cultural events and I stay involved with the
community.
How long have you been studying English?
I started learning this language when I was seven, in first grade, but I wasn’t too crazy about it at the time. I
really came to like it and started to learn more seriously about it, with different goals, in my teens though.
What do you enjoy most about learning English?
I really enjoy learning this language due to the wide range of opportunities it offers. Impresses me how
English combines richness with versatility, thanks to its many idioms and expressions that bring it to life. I
also enjoy how English connects people globally, it serves as a bridge between cultures, enabling us to travel
and develop businesses without language barriers.
Do you study any other language?
Yes, besides English, I’m also learning German and Romanian, but none of them in as many weekly hours as
English. Each of these languages offers its own unique challenges. Although I have dedicated more time to
English lately, I really like Romanian and I want to continue my studies at an extraordinary faculty of law in
that language.
Do you have any hobbies or interests?
Of course, I ride a horse on a competitive level, and I have been doing this sport since my childhood. More
precisely, I picked up this hobby when I was in 2nd grade. It’s not only a great way to stay physically active
but also provides a mental challenge. During this activity, I have the possibility to forget about my weekdays’
duties, and I can relax and recharge my batteries. Moreover, it increases my muscles, creates stamina and
perseverance, and of course, develops my team spirit both with the horse and other people. I’m keen on
horseriding, so I look forward to continuing it for years.
What is the main way you keep in touch with friends?
Thanks to the constantly evolving world and technology, there are plenty of opportunities to keep in touch
and communicate with friends. Nowadays I mostly use mobile apps and social media to exchange messages
and share images since they allow us to receive real-time news without being limited by distance. Thanks to
them I have the possibility to keep contact with my near and dear ones regardless of geographical
boundaries. However, due to the fact that I’m even classmates with most of my friends, I’m in a lucky
situation because I can take pleasure in spending quality time with them every weekday.
Which foreign country would you most like to visit?
I can say without hesitation that I would like to discover the breathtaking wonders of Egypt. I would really
feast my eyes on the magnificent scenery, the scenic areas, and the eye-catching, ancient ruins. Even though I
had the possibility to visit a lot of countries, I have never been to a different continent, especially not in a
place where the stunning pyramids take center stage, which evokes the feeling of entering the setting of a
real-life fairy tale.
How much time do you spend on the Internet?
We are living in the computer age, so even though I don’t spend half my life in front of the computer, I use
the internet on a daily basis. I rely on it to stay connected with my near and dear ones and keep up with the
current events. Moreover, it gives me access to a lot of information; thus, it helps me with my studies. So,
due to the many online courses, social media, and educational platforms, my screen time is very high. I also
find myself using it for entertainment; however, I don’t consider myself a geek, I easily can set limits.
What work would you like to do in the future?
I would really like to follow in my father’s footsteps and become a lawyer. Due to this plan after I graduate, I
would like to get admitted to Romania’s best law school, and then I want to excel in my working legal circles
in a major city. I aim to help people by providing expert legal guidance and making a meaningful impact on
their lives.
Who has had the most influence on your life?
In my life, I have many people who have influenced me, especially in a positive way but my parents have
had the hugest impact on my behavior and thoughts. They are the breadwinners in our family so they
supported my dreams not only financially but also emotionally. My parents are the ones who always believe
in me. Their sacrifices have shaped my values, motivated me to pursue my goals, and taught me the
importance of hard work, kindness, and resilience. They are my role models, I’m truly grateful for everything
they’ve done to ensure my future.
Do you feel you have to spend too much time studying/working?
As I am keen on studying and I like to be up-to-date with my tasks and organized, I don’t feel that I have to
spend too much time on it. While my schedule can be demanding, I see it as part of my responsibilities and I
find the balance between my studies and other activities manageable, I make sure to allocate time for
relaxation and hobbies. My enthusiasm for learning helps me avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Part2
Shopping
Both pictures I would like to talk about present people spending their money on shopping. While in picture C
there is just one man, e-commercing indoors, in picture A many people can be seen outdoors at a market
perhaps with the aim of buying fresh vegetables. They have chosen to purchase in these places because
markets are always loaded to the brim with organic, home-grown products, whereas on an online website, the
man is able to buy everything he wants and there seems to be a huge price reduction. Reduced carbon
footprint, nutritious vegetables, and the chance of meeting with a long-lost friend can be listed among the
pleasures of an urban market while purchasing online can be advantageous since the items of your choice are
accessible with a click of a button, without standing in queues, so it saves time.
Taking into consideration that we are living in the computer age and technology has influenced our ways
of shopping as well I can say without hesitation that online shopping is the most popular way of shopping
today since the items of your choice are accessible with the click of a button, regardless of the location.
Moreover, the comfort of home, the ability to compare prices instantly, and the speed of delivery have all
made online shopping highly popular.
Entertainment
Both pictures I would like to talk about present people who are involved in a free time, entertaining activity.
While in the first picture, there are lots of people outdoors, perhaps in a live concert, the people in the second
one are trying out a roller coaster in an amusement park, having a whale of time. The famous band’s concert
might appeal to young people since they are fans, like that type of music, and want to be together and have
fun, whereas the screaming people perhaps need an adrenaline rush while spending time with their loved
ones. The concertgoers might have a sense of euphoria, enjoying the possibility of taking part at a prestigious
concert, while the daredevils may turn their fear into positive energy and stay focused regardless the
potential risks.
Taking into consideration that me and my friends are music fans, there’s no doubt that a live concert would
be the most appealing to us. The electrifying atmosphere and the thrill of seeing our favorite artists
perform in person would be an unforgettable experience. There's something incredibly special about
hearing music played live.
Part3
- Okay, so let’s take these options one by one.
- All right. Would you like to start?
- If you ask me, skiing has numerous advantages, for example, it develops our muscles, but, it involves a
potential risk of injury.
- I totally agree with you, some people break their bones when they hit a tree. Additionally, it is a very
expensive sport. What about rock climbing?
- I reckon that rock climbing offers uncountable benefits to the daredevils, such as improving strength and
endurance. What are its disadvantages?
- The risk of falling, especially without proper equipment is one of the most significant dangers just as in
the case of hang gliding.
- That’s true. However, during hang gliding people can feel free, can recharge their batteries, forgetting their
everyday duties. What do you know about surfing?
- As I know it reduces stress and provides a sense of connection with nature.
- Yeah, you are totally right. It also improves balance and coordination. However, unpredictable wave
patterns can be hazardous and the potential risks of injuries can deter people.
- I couldn’t agree more. If we think about extreme skateboarding, I can say that the adrenaline rush is the
only thing that can appeal to adrenaline junkies.
- Yes, but it also improves balance and concentration. As I know falls are common and they can lead to
serious injuries, so it has disadvantages as well.
- We mentioned before that each of these sports involves potential risks, but we have to agree on the most
dangerous one. What do you think?
- From my point of view, hang-gliding is the sport that involves the most danger due to the fact that it
happens in the air.
- Yeah, I totally agree with you there are potential accidents during takeoff. Moreover, weather conditions
also influence the flight which makes it more dangerous.
- So it’s okay with you if we choose the hang-gliding?
- Yeah, perfect! It sounds like a deal.
Part4
Why do you think some people take up dangerous sports?
From my point of view, people prefer extreme sports because they offer both a lot of excitement and
challenge. I consider that the thrill of pushing boundaries and experiencing an adrenaline rush might be
incredibly appealing to those people. These sports allow individuals to test their limits, and face fears.
Adrenaline junkies turn their fear into positive energy, ignoring the potential risks that the sport involves.
Do you think sports should be compulsory at school?
In my opinion, different kinds of sports must be incorporated into the school curriculum due to the fact that it
has a large number of benefits. It contributes not only to students’ physical health but also to their mental
well-being and resilience. Moreover, playing a sport improves the individual’s academic skills, for example,
it enhances concentration and develops a better focus, team spirit, and perseverance. It helps to manage stress
effectively and get better results, so there’s no doubt that sports should be compulsory at school.
How important is sport culturally to a country?
As I see it, sports are significant to a country’s culture since they reflect national identity, bringing people
together across the world. Iconic sports and athletes can symbolize a nation's values. Moreover, the major
sports events develop a sense of belonging. The country can be famous for its athletes, it can become a
tourist destination due to its famous sportsmen, which is very important from a cultural point of view.
Do you think sports promote friendship and cooperation between countries?
In my point of view, it goes without saying that sports serve as some bridge between the countries and have
the ability to create international cooperation and friendship. International sports events like the Olympics
and the World Cup bring together athletes from diverse countries and backgrounds, helping to break down
cultural barriers and create bonds through sportsmanship. Sport inspires respect in people, recognizing each
other's successes, and building friendships, so that they can support each other with advice.
Do you think most professional sportsmen/sportswomen make a good living from what they do?
I have never heard about the sportspeople's income, but I strongly believe that they can’t complain and can
make ends meet easily. As I know famous athletes are highly appreciated and at the elite level they can make
a good living due to their high salaries. However, not all sportspeople have money to burn, they can keep
their head above the water and don’t need to worry about their financial backgrounds. It is worth pointing out
that the income depends on what kind of sport does the player.
Do you think famous sportsmen/sportswomen make good role models?
From my point of view, famous sportspeople have a significant influence on other people’s lives. They are
perfect role models since set an example that everyone should follow. Their dedication to a particular sport
and their success stories have the power to inspire others to practice sports on a regular basis. Moreover, their
ability to overcome challenges, and maintain peak performance reflects positive values such as teamwork,
and hard work, which can motivate people to achieve their best.
