D. Discussing New WHAT IS REACTION PAPER?
Concepts and Practicing
New Skills #1 A response/reaction paper is a written response to a text, video, event, or issue, expressing the writer’s thoughts, opinions, and
analysis of work. It includes a summary, an analysis, and a well-supported reaction.

4 MAIN PARTS OF A REACTION PAPER

1. Introduction

Presents the title, author, and publication, includes a summary, and states the thesis.

Title and author (if applicable)

Summary of the material (a brief overview of the topic)

Thesis statement (the main idea of your reaction)

2. Body

The body contains the main points of your reaction.

3. Conclusion

Restates key points and provides an overall reaction.

4. Citations & Sources

If the reaction paper is based on a specific article, study, or video, proper citations should be included.

This section lists the references used to support the reaction.

Reaction Paper: The Effects of Social Media on Teenagers

Introduction

The article "The Impact of Social Media on Teen Mental Health" by Dr. Maria Lopez discusses how excessive social media use
affects teenagers' emotions, self-esteem, and mental well-being. The article highlights both the positive and negative effects,
emphasizing that while social media can connect people, it can also lead to anxiety, depression, and low self-confidence. This
reaction paper will analyze the article and provide my personal insights on the topic.

Body

Social media has become a major part of teenagers' lives, influencing how they see themselves and interact with others. The
article explains that social media platforms create unrealistic beauty standards and pressure teenagers to present a "perfect"
version of themselves. Many studies also show that excessive screen time and constant comparisons can lead to anxiety and
low self-esteem. I strongly agree with the article because I have seen how social media affects my peers. Many students feel
pressured to gain likes and followers, which sometimes affects their confidence. I believe that teenagers should be taught how to
use social media responsibly. Parents and teachers should also guide students on balancing online activities with real-life
interactions.

Conclusion

The article provides an important discussion on the impact of social media on teenagers. While social media has benefits, it also
has serious negative effects on mental health. To avoid these problems, teenagers should be mindful of their social media use,
and schools should educate students on digital well-being.

E. Discussing New Concepts STEPS IN WRITING A REACTION PAPER

and Practicing New Skills #2
1. Read And Analyze the Work Thoroughly

It's crucial when you do not fully understand why you're writing and what you're reacting to.

2. Craft Your Thesis Statement

4
Go back through your notes to get an idea of your overarching angle. This will help you form the main idea you will fully develop
in your reaction.

3.Create The Paper's Outline

Using your notes, start building the framework for your arguments. Fleshing out these ideas while writing your reaction will be much
easier and more organized when you're following an outline.

4. Compose A First Draft

Use your outline to form the first draft of your work. This will be rough but should give you a clear idea of what the finished product
is going to look like.

5.Polish And Repeat

There's a possibility that you'll be producing two, three or even four drafts before the final polished piece is ready to go. For each
pass through the paper during editing, focus on one main thing that you're editing for.

F. Developing Mastery ACTIVITY: TRUE OR FALSE
