● Athena gives Diomedes godlike powers to dominate on the battlefield and allows him to
see gods
● Diomedes kills a bunch of important Trojans
● Aphrodite gets stabbed in the wrist by Diomedes
● Aeneas gets maimed but rescued and healed by Apollo and Aphrodite.
● Ares joins the Trojans and marches with Hector.
● Hera and Athena join the Greeks.
● Athena helps Diomedes defeat Ares

Book 6 Notes:
● The Greeks start to push forward and win the war
● Menelaus almost spares a Trojan warrior's life but Agememnon convinces him otherwise.
● Diomedes meets Glaucus on the battlefield and they have a short chat about how their
families used to be friends.
● They decide against fighting each other and trade armor as a sign of friendship.
● Another son of Priam Helenus, who is a seer tells Hector he must rouse the troops and get
women to pray to Athena for support.
● Athena does not grant the Trojan prayers.
● Hector goes to his brother Paris and convinces him to come back out and join the
fighting.
● Hector meets his wife Andromache on the ramparts and tells her she has to accept his
death.
● He says goodbye to her and his son, and then goes back out to battle with Paris.

Book 7 Notes:
● Hector and Paris join the battle
● Athena goes to help the Greeks but gets intercepted by Apollo
● The two gods agree to work together to stop the battle for the night.
● Helenus tells Hector to challenge a Greek to single combat
● Menelaus accepts when no other Greek does but Agememnon won’t let him
● Nestor gives a rousing speech and 9 different Greeks stand up
● Ajax gets picked and he and Hector fight
● They get stopped by heralds and told they should take a break and continue in the
morning.
● Nestor convinces the Greeks that they should build fortifications around their ships.
● Antenor and the other Trojans try to convince Paris to return Helen but he refuses.
● The Trojans propose a truce to burn the dead and the Greeks agree.
● Poseidon is angry that the Greeks aren't sacrificing enough to the gods.
