Understanding Covid-19
Pandemics have consistently been known to impact the overall establishment of society
since the era of the biblical times of Moses. The first pandemic dates back to the biblical creation
story when god caused several infestations to the Egyptians. The main objective was to have the
Israelites delivered from slavery. Later in global history, the flu of 1918 appears to be the most
vivid pandemic that affected the social order and caused the people to endure some changes in
the social order and establishment. The flu resulted in many people's death in the United States
due to the insufficiency of information in research and analysis. In the recent past, the covid-19
pandemic, which was spread in the year 2020 and caused the changes in the way of life, is the
most lethal viral infection that has infested planet earth since its inception. The pandemic caused
a higher rate of human toll and is still raising the levels of fear due to the high rate the virus is
mutating and escaping the prevention by the various types of vaccines that have been
established. As a result, it is useful to analyze the coronavirus pandemic in relation to the
response that was witnessed in China and United States.
In the first stages of the realization of the pandemic within the Wuhan in China, several
myths and misconceptions had been shared across the globe over the origin and how the disease
can be prevented. China as a nation took part in fighting the pandemic within the major cities and
establishing how the human toll could be presented from rising (Rudd, 2020). Several
conspiracies had been developed over the origin of the pandemic. In countering the situation,
researchers in China spent most of their time in the laboratory to study the virus and used their
existing set of knowledge in creating awareness and ensuring that people were aware of the set of
conspiracies (Rudd, 2020). At some points, China was forced to accept the surge was beyond
control and asked for help in terms of research and manpower from other developed nations.
Developed countries have always been known to compete for space and recognition by
other developing nations for a very long time. China and United States have had supremacy
battles on the best performing and superpower that is likely to gain control over the globe over
its resources and expertise in research (Huang, 2021). During the covid-19 crisis, President
Trump of the United States turned out to be the center for the comic after he made several
speeches that were aimed at contravening the ideas and assertions that had been made by China.
All his speeches were aimed to prove that the United States still remains the center for refuge
and support to the developing nations. It was very evident how he was insisting on the use of
quinine in the process of treating the viral infection despite the treatment method being outlawed
by the World Health Organisation and researchers in China.
In conclusion, the eruption of the coronavirus pandemic has proved to the world that
developed nations are inconstant competition due to suspicion of the powers and expertise one
nation holds over the other. The use of competition to prove supremacy at the expense of human
death appears not to be a useful skill, and much emphasis should be made to establish diplomatic
talks that will help in ensuring that the repeat of the same is not established.
