PREFACE

Work immersion is an integral part of the K-12 curriculum, allowing students to go

beyond just school learning and apply their knowledge in real-world setting. According to the
Department of Education, work immersion is a subject which involves hands on experience or
work simulation where learners can apply their competencies and acquired knowledge relevant
to their track.

As part of this program, students are required to immerse themselves with the
workloads of specific career aligned with their future course. 80 hours is given to each student
in which they have the chance to work in an agency where they can enrich their gained
knowledge in school.

A work immersion portfolio is a compilation of documents and experiences that reflect

the student’s journey throughout this program. It serves as the product of a 10-day hands-on
experience, guided by professionals from various agencies. This portfolio is a tangible evidence
of student’s dedication, and hard work towards gaining skills, and progress.

Hence, a work immersion portfolio is a testament to the student’s growth and

development on their journey toward achieving their higher goals.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

I am deeply grateful to everyone who extended their assistance and made this journey
possible. Their contributions turned my work immersion into a meaningful and memorable
experience, providing me with both hands-on knowledge and happiness.

First and foremost, my heartfelt appreciation goes to our dearest principal, Ma’am
Grace Macababbad, for enabling and approving our immersion documents. Without her
support, we would not have been able to apply our knowledge in a real-world setting.

I am extremely grateful to Mrs. Marly Canapi, our Work Immersion teacher and
adviser. Her patience and dedication in reaching out to different agencies for partnerships made
our work immersion possible. I appreciate her continuous support, understanding, advice,
guidance, valuable comments, suggestions, provisions, and knowledge, all of which played a
significant role in helping us complete our immersion successfully. Through her hard work,
my senior high school experience became both enjoyable and meaningful.

I also extend my appreciation to Ma’am Virginia Bilgera, Regional Director of DOST

– Region 2 with Ma’am Laila Taguinod, the Assistant Regional Director of DOST – Region
2 together, for allowing us to be a temporary part of their organization.

My sincere gratitude goes to the staff of the RSTL Department of DOST for warmly
welcoming us into their workplace. In particular: Ma’am Jamaica Calagui, who first
introduced us to the laboratory environment, Ma’am Glydel Pascua and Ma’am Samantha
Baliza, who taught us various procedures and allowed us to conduct experiments in the
chemical laboratory, Sir Alijah Samuel Mabborang, who guided us through our daily
activities in the microbiology lab, and Sir Neil Dela Cruz, who warmly assisted us in handling
paperwork and customer service. Their individual teachings provided us with valuable
experiences, but it was their unity that created a workplace environment that was both
professional and welcoming.

To my family, thank you for allowing me to take this journey. Your continuous support
and encouragement motivated me to complete my work immersion.

Lastly, my deepest gratitude to God, who watched over us and kept us safe throughout
this entire journey.

DEDICATION

This work immersion portfolio is dedicated to my family, who made everything

possible. Without their motivational advice and support, I would not have been able to make
my work immersion a success, much less finish this document.

To my adviser, who did her very best to ensure that we could experience the fullest
extent of what this subject has to offer—her hard work will never be in vain, as this experience
will set our standards for what we truly want to achieve in life.

To all the people who made this possible through their help, support, and assistance.
To my friends, who, without a doubt, are always there to encourage me, assist me, and provide
valuable insights.

To myself, the reason why all of this exists. My hard work is the key factor in my work
immersion success. I hope that through this, I can continue to be motivated in reaching the
goals that truly inspire me.

Yours truly,
Jullian Sibbaluca
