I. Objectives

2. Understand the proper usage of each punctuation mark in sentences.
3. Use the correct punctuation mark in simple sentences.

II. Materials

 Mini whiteboard and markers

 Worksheet for practice
 Visual aids (e.g., pictures with sentences)

III. Lesson Proper

A. Introduction (5 minutes)

1. Greet the pupil warmly and ask, "Do you like reading stories or telling them?"
2. Explain: "When we write or read, punctuation marks help us understand the sentences better. Today,
we’ll learn about three special punctuation marks: the period, question mark, and exclamation point!"
3. Show flashcards with the punctuation marks (., ?, !). Briefly introduce each one:

o Period: Used to end a simple sentence.

o Question mark: Used to ask a question.
o Exclamation point: Used to show strong feelings or excitement.

B. Development (10 minutes)

Discuss each punctuation mark:

Period (.)
 Example: "The cat is sleeping."
 Rule: "We use a period to end a statement or tell something."
 Activity: Ask the pupil to say a sentence and add a period at the end.

Question Mark (?)

 Example: "Where is my book?"
 Rule: "We use a question mark at the end of a question."
 Activity: Ask a question (e.g., "What is your favorite color?") and have the pupil
answer it while identifying the question mark.
o

Exclamation Point (!)

Example: "Wow! That is amazing!"

 Rule: "We use an exclamation point to show excitement or strong feelings."

 Activity: Say a sentence with excitement (e.g., "Hooray, it’s your turn!") and have the
pupil repeat it.

Interactive Activity:

o Write simple sentences on the mini whiteboard without punctuation (e.g., "What is your
name" or "I love ice cream").
o Ask the pupil to read each sentence and decide which punctuation mark to add at the end.

C. Practice (10 minutes)

Guided Practice:

o Use sentence strips or a storybook. Read a sentence aloud and pause for the pupil to say
which punctuation mark is needed.

Worksheet Activity:

o Give the pupil a short worksheet where they:

 Add the correct punctuation to sentences.

 Match sentences to the correct punctuation mark.

IV. Evaluation

1. Ask the pupil to write three sentences:

o One sentence with a period.

o One question with a question mark.
o One exclamation with an exclamation point.

2. Review and provide positive feedback for correct punctuation.

V. Assignment

 Ask the pupil to draw a picture at home and write two sentences about it, using a period and an
exclamation point in their sentences.
