Insights and Reaction on the National Cybersecurity Plan 2022

a. Do you think this plan would help our country? In what way?

Yes, the National Cybersecurity Plan 2022 (NSCP 2022) would significantly help the
Philippines by strengthening the country’s digital security framework. Given the increasing
reliance on the internet for communication, commerce, governance, and everyday
transactions, cybersecurity threats pose serious risks to individuals, businesses, and
government agencies. This plan would be beneficial in the following ways:

1. Protection Against Cyber Threats - The plan ensures that Filipinos, particularly
internet users, are safeguarded from cybercrimes such as hacking, phishing,
identity theft, and data breaches.

2. Securing Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) - The initiative aims to protect

essential sectors such as finance, healthcare, and government institutions from
cyberattacks, which could cause severe national disruption.

3. Boosting Public Confidence in ICT - With a solid cybersecurity framework, people

and businesses would feel more secure in using digital platforms for transactions,
communication, and data storage.

4. Encouraging Technological Growth - A well-secured cyberspace fosters

innovation, research, and development, encouraging businesses to adopt modern
technology without fear of security risks.

5. Global Competitiveness - By aligning the country’s cybersecurity measures with

international standards, the Philippines can strengthen its reputation as a secure
digital hub for businesses and investments.

b. What can you suggest in improving security in our country?

While the NSCP 2022 is a crucial step in enhancing cybersecurity, the following additional
measures could further improve security in the Philippines:

1. Regular Cybersecurity Awareness and Education - Conducting cybersecurity

training and awareness campaigns for individuals, businesses, and government
employees can help prevent cyber threats and promote safe online practices.

2. Stronger Cybercrime Laws and Enforcement - Enforcing stricter laws against

cybercriminals and providing better resources to law enforcement agencies to track
and apprehend offenders would enhance overall security.
3. Investment in Cybersecurity Infrastructure - Allocating more resources to
developing advanced cybersecurity technologies, such as AI-driven threat detection
systems, can improve the country’s ability to counter cyberattacks.

4. Public-Private Partnerships - Encouraging collaboration between the government,

private sector, and international cybersecurity organizations can help improve
threat intelligence sharing and strengthen defenses against cyber threats.

5. Regular Security Audits and Testing - Conducting periodic security audits and
penetration testing on government and business networks can help identify
vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by malicious actors.

By implementing these additional measures, the Philippines can further enhance its
cybersecurity resilience and protect its citizens, businesses, and government institutions
from cyber threats.
