that most Vietnamese people eat during Tet holiday. According to the Vietnamese culture,
making Banh Chung is a way to express gratitude to our ancestors and homeland.
Compared with cooking ordinary food, the process of making Banh Chung is much more
complicated and time-consuming as it requires lots of ingredients and skills. To make
Banh Chung, we need rice, pork meat and green beans.
First, we have to choose and soak sticky rice in water one nighkt. Rice is wrapped into a
square shape, and the wrapping must be neither too tight nor too loose. Then Banh Chung
will be boiled for about 12 hours.
This is the most memorable part, as we tend to gather around the fire, chatting and eating
snacks the whole night. No matter how modern the world may become, having Banh
Chung with beloved ones still plays an irreplaceable role in the Vietnamese spiritual life
during Tet holidays.

cake that most Vietnamese people eat during Tet holiday. According to the Vietnamese
culture, making Banh Chung is a way to express gratitude to our ancestors and homeland.

me because Banh Chung is made by my mom is more delicious and unique than those are
sold in stores. And I am so obsessed with Banh Chung, Banh Chung is my favorite cake

and skills. To make Banh Chung, we need rice, pork meat and green beans. It takes her 1-
2 days to prepare, and that process requires a lot of dedication. Because of this I
appreciate the cake she makes for me even more.
First, she chooses and soaks sticky rice in water for one night. The rice is then wrapped
into a square shape, and my mom always says that the wrapping must be neither too tight
nor too loose. After that, Banh Chung will be boiled for about 12 hours.
This is the most memorable part, as me and my family tend to gather around the fire,
chatting and eating snacks the whole night.
No matter how modern the world may become, having Banh Chung with beloved ones
still plays an irreplaceable role in the Vietnamese spiritual life during Tet holidays. And
more than just a traditional dish, it takes a special place in my heart. Whenever I crave

time to prepare, she still does it as a way to express her love for me.

I wore a simple yet elegant navy dress with sparkling detail at the collar and sleeves,
paired with black high heels. My makeup was light, featuring a touch of blush and soft
pink lipstick, which made me feel confident and stylish. My hair was styled in gentle
curls, creating a look that was both feminine and youthful. As I entered the store, I felt a
sense of pride and joy, not only because of my outfit but also because of this special event
At the store, I experienced many wonderful services. There were makeup demonstrations,
skincare consultations and even a free facial treatment for guests. I was impressed by
how professional and friendly the staff were. They made everyone feel welcome and
valued
Even though this store operated on a small scale, I believe it is very successful. The
personal touch and excellent customer service attract many loyal customers. People

I lost in touch for a long time.
I was on my way to the interview, driving and feeling a bit rushed because I was already
running late. My phone rang with an unfamiliar number. I decided to ignore it but my
phone kept ringing, so I thought it might be something urgent. I had to pull over to the
road side and take a call.
Unfortunately, the road was quite noisy and it was hard to hear what the caller saying.
After a bit of straining, I finally figured out that it was a tele sales person who tried to
convince me to invest in stock. They were very persuasive and had a polished pitch
which somehow caught my attention despite the background noise.
I got so attracted in the conversation that I completely lost track of time. By the time I
ended the call I realized I was 30 minutes late for my job interview. It was the interview I
had been looking forward to for months. I felt like the whole world had crashed in front
of me. I called the interviewer to ask for the patience but they said they could not wait for
me as there were many candidates waiting. I burst into tears I was frustrated and
disappointed with myself for letting this distraction cost me such an important
opportunity.
But still I refused her persuasion and hang up. In the evening when I returned home, I
received a text message ask if I was Hoa who had studied at primary school next to my
house before. And I answered yes. The person texted back that she was my old classmate
and lived in the same neighborhood as me before. She said that today when she received
the customer data list to call, she saw my information and recognized me right away. But
at that time, she was working and I was quite busy so she didn’t say that she was my old
friend. I was very surprised to receive her messages because it has been more than 10
years since she moved to live elsewhere and we had not study together at secondary
school. I also feel happy and appreciated because she still remembered me after all these
years. After a long conversation, I asked her out at the weekend so that we would have
more time to confide in. And from then until now, she and I still regularly contact each
other and hangout for shopping or having a dinner.

into university, it was a huge relief and a moment of triumph. I was like oh finally I made
it. I knew I could do it. This whole experience was a massive confidence booster for me.

passing those exams made me believe in myself and could handle other difficulties in life.
I was given a cash prize/ an amount of cash as a gift by my grandparents, parents and
extended relatives. It was more than just a financial reward. It was a recognition of all the
hard work and their support throughout/during the journey. I had spent all those cash on
buying a new laptop for my own which could help a lot for my university studying.

A few years ago, my younger sister was struggling with her math studies. She was
preparing for a crucial final exam and even though she had tried her best, she couldn’t
deeply understand certain concepts. Our parents were occupied with work and she was
feeling quite stressed so she asked me for help. I had some time on my hands, so I made
decision to step in and lend her a hand. I sat down with her every evening, explaining the
topics in different ways until she started to comprehend all those concepts. At first it was
quite a challenge for me because math had never been my strong suit either. I was
worried that I would not be able to explain things well enough, and I feared it might lead
to more annoyance to her. However, I took it as a personal challenge. I researched various
learning techniques, watching a lot of online tutorials on Youtube and practiced with her
patiently. To be honest, I didn’t expect much success. I was afraid I might make things
worse. But I had accepted the risk of teaching her anyway. To my surprise, the more we
worked together the better she became in solving math. By the end of her preparation, she
was feeling confident when she finally sat for the exam, not only did she pass, but she
also scored one of the highest marks in her class. Looking back, what I thought would be

Describe a time you taught something new to a younger person/ Describe a time
when you taught a friend or relative something useful
A few years ago, my younger sister was in grade six and she was struggling with her
geometry studies which was a branch of mathematics because it was a first time that she
had to study this kind of subject. She was preparing for the first math exam and even
though she had tried her best, she couldn’t deeply understand certain concepts.
Our parents were occupied with work and she was feeling quite nervous so she asked me
for help. I had some time on my hands, so I made decision to step in and lend her a hand.
I sat down with her every evening, explaining the topics in different ways until she
started to comprehend all those concepts.
At first it was quite a challenge for me because math had never been my strong suit
either. I was worried that I would not be able to explain things well enough, and I feared
it might lead to more annoyance to her. However, I took it as a personal challenge. I
researched various learning techniques, watching a lot of online tutorials on Youtube and
practiced with her patiently. To be honest, I didn’t expect much success. I was afraid I
might make things worse. But I had accepted the risk of teaching her anyway. To my
surprise, the more we worked together the better she became in solving math.
By the end of her preparation, she was feeling confident when she finally sat for the
exam, not only did she pass, but she also scored one of the highest marks in her class.
Looking back, what I thought would be a challenging task and a potential failure ended
up bringing up closer as siblings and helping her achieve great results.

different cultures, not just our own. The museum has a section dedicated to the local
culture, but it also hosts exhibition about cultures from around the world which can
satisfy people who loves photography and can also even touch the depth of our souls.

Describe an important event in your life that you celebrated
The crowded place I have visited is my best friend’s graduation party. She held that party
at the famous club which called Beaumont in my city. I went there last weekend with my
intimate group.
Beaumont is one of the biggest clubs in my city, located just a 15-minute drive from my
neighborhood. It has a dazzling design with lavish light and audio system. That’s why
that club is famous among the young generation.
When I went there last Saturday evening, it was extremely noisy and crowded.
Everywhere you looked there were people drinking, dancing or just gathering and
chatting with each other. It was quite difficult to move out every time you need to answer
the phone call. It was packed with the huge crowd.
I have to admit that I felt quite overwhelmed by the large crowd at first. There was a buzz
of noise and the loud music playing over the speaker system. It was also hot and stuffy
inside with so many bodies.
However, once I got used to the noisy and crowded atmosphere, I did not mind it as
much. It was interesting to people sing along with the songs or move the body to match
the rhythm of a piece of music. I also had fun exploring that some time going to the club
with buddies is not that bad. In the past, I was quite introvert but now I tend to be an
open-minded girl who feel quite more comfortable when go to the crowded or noisy
place.

I would like to describe the natural place I visited during last year’s summer vacation
with my friends. It is located about 24 kilometers away from the city center. We planned
to reach that location early in the morning so that we could enjoy a lot throughout the day
and later return homes in the evening or at night. To make our journey memorable, we
decided to go to by public bike from a bike station near my house.
The area is a mountainous region where I went hiking with my friends. It is Hàm Lợn
Mountain, which is a part of Tam Dao range in southeastern Hanoi. This spot is a popular
among people who love trekking and hiking, featuring a mix of old and new attractions.
I believe this mountain offers a breathtaking landscape. You can enjoy trekking and trails,
that cater for both beginners and experienced individuals. I adore this spot because it
showcases stunning beauty and I consider it a natural treasure for Vietnam.
At that time, we carried a lot of gear and hiking equipment for safety, especially for our
younger siblings, along with some snacks and soft drinks. You can rent trekking
equipment, though the prices can be quite high. We had a wonderful time, and it was
special for us since we had never gone anywhere alone without our parents. It was our
first time, and we were all over the moon.
We got to experience all the greenery for ourselves without anyone else around, as the
responsibility for our safety depended entirely on us. I found it to be a great time spent

I would like to talk about a piece of technology that I find extremely difficult to use: my
Macbook which I received as a gist when I intended to study for my master’s in the UK.
My mom gave it to me to help me with my studies and working in a completely different
environment. The gift holds special value, so even though I find it challenging to handle,
I still keep it for various purposes.
I remember one time when I barely used it for my studying because I couldn’t discover
all the features of the laptop, nor could I take full advantage of Microsoft Office or any
apps that the Macbook offers. This is because the features and software are so different
from the laptop I usually use, which runs on the Microsoft operating system.
So, I decided to open Youtube and find a tutorial video about downloading Excel, Word
without spending a lot of money. After surfing for 15 minutes, I finally found the video I
needed, titled “How to download free Microsoft office”. This presenter was a well-known
influencer in technology field. He guided me to the website that provide software

Describe a person who encouraged you and helped you achieve a goal
A person, I have always looked up to ever since I was born is my mother. Not only she is
really knowledgeable, thanks to her reading habit but she is also very informed about
current matters. And I think that’s why she always lives very wisely
I would call her a bookworm myself because I notice that she usually has her nose in a
book at any time. Having a massive collection of books on my home’s bookshelf, my
mom comprehends every topic in life. I remember whenever my family was watching
those TV shows together, she was always able to answer almost all questions even it was
about culture, history, geography or even science which is pretty amazing in my opinion.
I reckon that she genuinely loves reading, because whenever she goes to the bookstore
with my family, she usually spends almost 2 hours in there, so then my father has to tote
her bag with a pile of books and she leave a bookstore with a bliss. Her book collection
takes up most of space in my family bookshelf with numerous genres such as historical
documents, non-fiction, thriller, even poetry or comics
I reckon that because my mom usually has her nose in a book/ reads a lot, so for me she
is a sage person who I always seek for encouragement and advices. My mom tends to
stay calm in the face of hardships and pressure so that that common sense allows her to
make wise and logical decisions. I think that is a pretty admirable ability. I perceive that
my mom has a say in almost any decision in my family whether it’s big or small. In fact,
not just me, but my father and my little sister always ask her for advices as well.
And another reason that makes me always seek her to ask for advices/she is a huge and
special encouragement to me because she has a competence in softening the blow, even
the matters go sour, she is still willing to help me go through those issues. And this thing
encourages me alot. My mom is always by my side and lend me her hand whenever I
need someone support me to achieve my goal. Now I am 23 which means I am in the
stage of ambiguousness. At the moment, I am about to study aboard so I have many
things to complete such as taking the IELTS test to have an unconditional offer from the
university … And sometimes, because of overloaded stuffs, I feel like I am devasted, and
my mind feel like it was about to explode and she’s always there to inspire me and cheer
me up. I really appreciate all the things she has done for me, support me both financially
and mentally. I love my mom so much. She is the greatest mom ever.
14. Describe the most expensive item you have ever bought
All:
So when it comes to the most expensive item I have bought for myself / the item I lost
which is very important / the item I own that I want to replace, it is in my mind now, my
smartphone.
Expensive item + Item that I want to replace + item that I lost
This is the iPhone 14, from Apple, and it was newly released 2 years ago when I bought
it. It has a modern appearance with a yellow color that is portable for me and also looks
really stunning. This is a gift I bought for myself after I graduated from university with
honor degree. This is the most expensive item I have bought and I saved for several
months, nearly a year, to afford it. I had to think about it many times and compare
different versions and models to find the best and most suitable one for me. I chose this
smartphone because of its popular functions, not only for its attractive appearance. It is
also appeals to me with outstanding features, such as a beautiful camera that allows me to
take stunning photos and pursue my passion for photography. Up to now I still like it, I
still consider it a reward for my hard work, and I am proud of myself for saving a
significant amount of money to purchase this item.
Item that I want to replace:
Despite its significance, there are several reasons why I want to replace it. Firstly, I
believe it is outdated, and with the rapid advancements in technology, there are many
high-tech phones available now. Additionally, there is a crack in the middle of the
phone’s screen because I accidentally dropped the phone on the ground. I also want to
replace it because I am a person who pursue photography as my second career path so I
need to keep up with the latest technology in order to improve the quality of my photos.
Item that I lost + expensive item
Last month, I had an excursion with my extended family. We decided to go camping and
have a picnic to unwind after a busy week. The place my grandparents chose was a
camping spot located next to a stunning lake. While I was playing with my sibling in the
grassy field, I forgot to zip my shoulder bag, and my phone fell into the river.
When I saw my phone gradually sinking into the water, I didn’t know what to do and
could only watch it happen. After realizing that I had truly lost the phone I bought for
myself, I felt a mix of emotions: nervousness, sadness, and helplessness. This was a
phone I really appreciated, and I intended to use it for about five more years. An
expensive and valuable phone was lost due to my carelessness.

16. Describe a person who is good at making things by hand ( toys, furniture, …)
I would like to talk about my mother, who is really good at making things by hands
which leads to the reason why my mom is good at buying things at street market at
cheaper prices.
My mother is really talented at making handmade items, which makes her very skilled at
shopping for materials. She often goes to local markets to find the best supplies for her
crafts. Since she knows how to make beautiful things by hand, she is always on the
lookout for good deals.
My mother is very creative, so she often makes beautiful handmade jewelry like bracelets
and necklaces, using colorful beads and strings for me and my younger sister. I admire
her skills because she can turn simple materials into lovely pieces that people love to
wear. My mother often gifts her handmade creations to friends and family, and everyone
appreciates her thoughtful presents.
In addition to her crafting skills, she loves to shop at street markets. When she goes to the
market, she has a special way of bargaining with the vendors. On weekend, she often
visits the local market, where she searches for fresh vegetables, fruits and handmade
goods. She can negotiate prices very well and often gets the materials she needs for a
much lower price. This not only helps her save money but also allows her to buy higher
quality items. My mom says it is not just about saving money, it is also about supporting
local businesses and finding high quality produce with lower price.
I admire her ability to combine her crafting skills with her smart shopping habits.
Because of her, we always have beautiful handmade decorations and gifts at home, and
she teaches me the importance of being resourceful and creative. I find her inspiring
because she makes the most out of her talents and enjoys life in a meaningful way.
When I think about my ideal house, the first thing that comes to mind is a spacious home
in a peaceful suburban area, close to nature. I would love to live near a park with walking
trails and greenery, so I can enjoy outdoor activities while still being near the city.
I want my dream house to have a modern design with large windows that let in lots of
natural light. An open layout that connects the living room, dining room, and kitchen
would create a welcoming space for my family and friends. I can imagine cozy evenings
by the fireplace and a lovely backyard where I can plant flowers and vegetables.
There are also some special features I would like, such as a cozy reading nook with big
windows, and maybe even a small home cinema where I can watch movies with my
family instead of going out. I would love to have a smart home system to control the
lights and security for added convenience.
Being close to nature helps me relax, while modern features would support my lifestyle.
My ideal house would be a peaceful place where I can unwind and enjoy time with my
beloved ones.
Recently, I watched a movie called “The Princess Diaries”. It is a charming story about a
young girl named Mia who discover she is the heir to the throne of a small European
country. At first, Mia is reluctant, or unwilling to accept her royal destiny. She is a typical
teenager, dealing with the everyday struggles of school, friendships, and finding her
identity. However, with the guidance and support of her grandmother, Queen Clarisse,
she learns how to navigate the many challenges that come with being a princess.
Throughout the movies, I see Mia’s journey of self-discovery as she fights with her new
role and the responsibilities that come with it. The movie explores themes of family,
personal growth and finding one’s place in the world. I particularly enjoyed the
lighthearted tone of the movie, which balances humor with heartfelt moments. The
relationship between Mia and her grandmother, is truly heartwarming, showcasing the
bond that can exist between generations.
The message of the movie is inspiring: anyone can achieve their dreams with hard work
and determination. It reminds us that even princesses can be ordinary girls with
extraordinary potential. The Princess Diaries is definitely a feel-good movie that left me
smiling and I believe it encourages viewers to embrace (accept) their unique journeys
and strive for their aspirations, no matter how worried they may seem.
You should say:
When and where you watched it
Who you watched it with
What it was about
And explain why you chose to watch this movie
Part 3
1. What kinds of movies do you think are successful in your country? 2. Do
Vietnamese people prefer to watch domestic movies or foreign movies? 3. Do you
think only well-known directors can create the best movies?
4. Why do many movies starred by famous actors or actresses fail to achieve good
results?

19.* Describe a wildlife you’ve seen before (e.g. animals, insects,..) You should say:
Where did you see
I would like to talk about a fascinating wildlife encounter I had last summer. I saw a
majestic eagle while hiking in the mountains near my hometown.
The eagle was perched on a tall tree, surveying the landscape below. Its sharp eyes
seemed to catch every movement. As I watched, it suddenly spread its wings and took
flight, gliding without effort through the air.
Seeing this eagle in its natural habitat was truly awe-inspiring. I felt a mix of excitement
and tranquility. It was exciting to see such a powerful bird up close, but there was also a
sense of peace in observing nature undisturbed.
This experience made me appreciate the importance of preserving natural habitats for
wildlife. It was a memorable moment that I will cherish for a long time.
21.* Describe a sport you have only watched that you would like to try
yourself/Describe a sport that you only have watched before but had not played by
yourself
The type of sport I am going to describe is swimming. Even though I have watched it on
TV or laptop before, I have not had the chance to try it in my life up to now. This is
mainly because of the lack of facilities available for swimming in my area. When I was I
kid, I had a strong desire to become a good swimmer.
Swimming is, in fact, very beneficial for human health. It improves many aspects of
human body. For example, it increases the strength and endurance of the cardiovascular
system and also boosts the production of white blood cells, which help fight off
infections. Additionally, swimming had positive effects on our brain, enhancing our
mood and reducing stress.
Moreover, swimming is a very relaxing activity. I want to learn how to swim mainly
because of the great feeling that comes from completing a session in a calm indoor
environment. The water can be soothing, and the sense of accomplishment after a good
swim is very rewarding. I believe that learning to swim would not only improve my
health but also provide me with an important survival skill that help me prevent form
drowning. Being able to swim gives me confidence in the water and allows me to enjoy
many water activities safely.
Overall, the reason I would like to try swimming because swimming is not just a fun and
relaxing sport, it is also a vital skill that everyone should have for their safety and well-
being.
22. *Describe a new law that you want to implement in your country
Today, I would like to discuss new law I would like to implement in Vietnam. As you
may know, online verbal abuse is a growing issue in our country. More and more people
are facing negative comments on social media platforms like Tiktok and Facebook.
Sometimes, these comments become so harsh that they lead to real-life situations where
celebrities have been attacked by groups of anti-fans. This can have serious consequences
both for their physical and mental well-being.
For example, there have been cases where individuals, overwhelmed by online bullying,
have tragically taken their own lives. These heartbreaking incidents highlight how
damaging negative comments can be. Content creators and public figures often find
themselves under pressure, trying to cope with the hate they receive online. Then mental
strain can lead to anxiety, depression and even thoughts of self-harm.
Therefore, I propose a new law banning individuals from posting negative comments
online. I have seen firsthand the significant stress that online hate puts on these
individuals. If this law is implemented, I believe it will help create a more positive and
constructive online environment in Vietnam.
This law would be widely accepted because it’s essential for creating a safer and more
helpful cyberspace. We need an online space that provides valuable information and
foster kindness among citizens. By taking this step, we can protect people from the
harmful effects of online abuse and promote a healthier community where everyone can
feel safe and valued.
You should say:
What law it is
What changes this law has
Whether this new law will be popular
And explain how you came up with the idea of this law
Part 3 :
1. Do you think it takes a long time to introduce a new law?
2. Which is better to make people obey the law, punish them, or encourage them
to do so?
3. What rules should students follow at school?
4. Do you think children can learn about the law outside of school?
5. How can parents teach children to obey rules?
In my short life, I have received several types of clothes as gifts. To be honest, when I
received a cloth item as a present, I felt very excited because I am a person who really
love fashion. I strongly believe that wearing different types of clothes is a great way to
express myself creatively.
However, today I would like to talk about a special cloth that someone bought for me. It
is none other than my beloved sister. A couple months ago, my sister bought a T-shirt for
me because it was my birthday month.
This tee is from Uniqlo, the famous Japanese brand. The tee has a blue navy color with
the big printers of the cartoon character Micky Mouse in the front. When I receive this
gift, I felt over the moon because it was my first time that my sister gave me a t-shirt as a
birthday present. She said that she saved money in her piggy bank for 3 months in order
to have enough money to purchase this tee for me.
When I wore this t-shirt for the first time, all of my family member gave me positive
compliments. I feel very comfortable whenever I wear this shirt not only because of the
cotton materials but also because of its meaningful significance.
27. *Describe a special day out that cost you little money
Today, I would like to share about a memorable day out that didn’t cost me much at all,
but it was really special.
This happened just last weekend. I decided to go to a nearby park with my friends
because we all just wanted to relax and enjoy some fresh air without spending too much
money. The park is about a 10 minute-walk from my neighborhood, so it was super
convenient for all of us to get there.
When we arrived at the park, we found a nice spot under a big shady tree and set up a
little picnic. We had brought some snacks and soft drinks from home, so we didn’t need
to spend much. We sat around, chatting and laughing. After that, we played a dew
outdoor sports like badminton which was a lot of fun. We also took a walk around the
park and stand contemplating the blue sky and the peaceful atmosphere.
As for how much we spent, it was hardly anything. We only spent about 100.000 vnd on
the snacks and drinks, which we all chipped in for, so it was really cheap.
This day was special to me because it was all about simple pleasures. We didn’t need to
spend a lot of money to have a great time. The best part was just being together,
confiding in the ups and downs in our lives
28. *Describe a time when you organized a happy event successfully/ event you
Today I’m going to talk about a surprise birthday party that I held for my best friend,
Minh. To me, Minh is always been a sister as we have been friends for over a decade and
she’s been with me through both ups and downs in my life
If I am not mistaken, this party took place when both of us were in high school and my
bestie was about to turn 18. Though we were buried in a huge pile of assignments and
mock tests as the university entrance exam was coming, I decided to do something
special for her
A month beforehand, I secretly contacted her family members and close friends and
asked them if they could send me some her funny photos as well as record some short
videos full of love and support for her. Then, I put all the pictures in an online album and
merged multiple videos into one file. A week before, I booked a small café that was
nearby her neighborhood, ordered a birthday cake and purchased a Charles n Keiths
shoulder bag as a gift for her.
Finally, the day came. Minh was absolutely surprised when she found out about the party
and saw the video along with pictures shown on the screen. She was amazed when I
knew that I was here, because previously I pretended that I was too busy to join her. After
all, she was on nine clouds, and her happiness made me have a sense of succeed and
pride.
29. *Describe a discussion you had with your friend
Well, usually I don’t like to share personal things with others, but I had a very interesting
discussion with my best friend that I feel compelled to share.
Recently, she has started her exciting journey on running her own business and is now
looking to expand it further
During our discussion, she invited me to consider becoming a partner and asked if I
would be interested in investing in her business. I took the opportunity to provide her
with a detailed breakdown of my current expenses. When I mentioned that my savings
were limited – primarily because I tend to indulge in branded clothes, bags and shoes –
she offered me some advice on how to save money effectively.
That conversation opened my eyes to different budgeting strategies and the importance of
prioritizing my financial goals. I realized that if I truly want to support her and invests in
her business, I need to make some changes in my spending habits.
Inspired by her insights, I am now committed to saving as much money as possible in the
future, with the goal of making a meaningful investment in her business when the time is
right.
This discussion has not only strengthened our friendship but also motivated me to rethink
my financial priorities
30. *Describe an important lake or river
Well, to be honest, I don’t know a lot about geography or rivers in Vietnam but one lake
that comes to mind is Ho Guom lake, which is located right in the center of Hanoi, the
capital of Vietnam. I don’t know a lot of specific details about it, but it is quite famous
and is known as a landmark in the city.
The lake isn’t very big, in fact, compared to rivers or other lakes, it’s pretty small. It’s
surrounded by walkways and trees, and there’s a sacred temple on a little island in the
middle, which I think makes it unique.
From what I understand, Ho Guom lake is very special to the people in Ha Noi. There is a
legend about a golden turtle that returned a magical sword to the King, and that’s actually
how the lakes got its name, which means “Lake of the returned sword”. I think this story
highlight its importance for the spiritual life of Hanoi citizen and makes it a symbol of
Hanoi.
Even though it is not used for farming or transportation, Hoan Kiem Lake is an important
spot for people to relax and gather. Many local and tourists visit it to walk around, take
photos or just enjoy the scenery. Ho Guom is definitely one of attractive destinations for
tourist.
- sacred (adj) : /ˈseɪ.krɪd/ : considered to be holy and deserving respect, especially
because of a connection with a god
31. *Describe a thing you did to learn another language
As you know, English is compulsory subject in Vietnam and every Vietnamese child has
to study English from primary school. Learning foreign language at an early age was a
hug challenge for me. I have to admit that I felt like such an English dummy back then
because I couldn’t deeply understand any grammar theory.
If I am not mistaken, the situation got worse when I needed to pass my 7th grade final
English exam. Most of the questions were about grammar but I literally forgot everything
I knew about it. Fortunately, just 2 weeks right before D-day, I went surf internet and
found an interesting study method called “Mind Map”, a technique that can help you to
cram knowledge in a short period by using colorful graphs.
After finding out about this method, I decided to apply it immediately, and you know, this
method was a true life-saver. By organizing my lesson in different colors and using
drawings to illustrate the vocabulary and grammar, I could memorize things faster.
In the end, I passed the test with flying colors and since then English was no longer been
a nightmare to me. I honestly was so proud of myself and have been using this method to
learn other subjects since then.
32. * Describe a long walk you have ever had
I would like to talk about a long walk that I have taken recently. So, this was a walk
around TamBac lake. I do this walk quite regularly, usually in the late evening, and
usually whenever I am feeling under pressure at work.
That night, the fresh air and tranquil atmosphere around the lake made me feel relaxed,
and it helped me to recharge my battery and refresh my mind to get ready for a new day
to come. Surroundings the lake is a long spacious pavement, where people usually go
jogging and running, and after taking a long walk I just sat on the bench, taking a deep
breath and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
Most of the time I just stood contemplating the sunset, and the sky had a beautiful hue of
pink at the sunset. The reason I took this walk was because I had a fight with my best
friend because I decided to study abroad. While I wanted get my master’s and pursue a
career in event management, she just did not want me to study in the UK because the
distance was too far and she said she could not live without me beside her.
At that time, I feel quite stressed, I felt like I was buried in many negative thoughts, so I
decided to take a long walk to put my mind at ease. It was the longest walk that I have
ever take because I did not return home until 11 pm that evening
33. *Describe a song you listened to recently
Honestly, I am a huge fan of music and definitely I spend most of my free time listening
to pop music in particular. Today I would like to talk about my all -time favorite song,
whose name is “Treat people with kindness” by the famous British singer: Harry Styles.
Harry is a former member of the most famous boyband in the word, called One Direction.
The band has 5 members and he is my favorite of the five. And if I am not mistaken, he
release his second album which called “Fine Line” and suddenly I was fall in love with
the song whose name is “Treat people with kindness”
The song’s genre is pop, but I feel it has quite a bit of funk in it. The rhythm is fast and
his voice and the melody make a perfect combination. In addition, it has meaningful
lyrics because the purpose of composing this song was to remind his fan the importance
of being kind to others.
Second, the melody and catchy tune of this song helps me recharge my battery after a
hard day at work. Listening to the song while having a bath or cooking after work is a
very relaxing experience. I feel that I can let my hair down and relieve stress
This song will forever be among my most favorite ones and I am sure to put it on repeat
many more times.
38. *Describe something you do that you think is important for keeping fit and
healthy
Describe a positive change that you made in your life
Health is wealth and everyone is aware of that. I would like to share with you something
that I Iove doing in my leisure time to stay healthy., which is going to the gym and
working out with a personal trainer.
I started this habit about 6 months ago, I chose Lady fir Fitness center as this is a famous
gym in my city and it’s just for women only. The gym is equipped with the most modern
machines and there are a variety of cardio as well as yoga classes for the member to
register every day.
At first, I was not motivated enough to join those classes because I always felt exhausted
after work. I am a kind pf person that is really lazy to do exercise. After leaving my
workplace, I just want to go home immediately and go to sleep.
After some consideration, I decided to register a gym class with a personal trainee despite
the high cost. I think decided to hit the gym is the most positive change that I have ever
made in my life.
I believed working with my PT could give me enough motivation to reach my fitness
goals. Having a person fitness trainer will ensure that I have plan for my own and a
flexible schedule that will give me the best results. It is difficult to know how to exercise
or how to design a complete route to follow easily. Therefore, my trainer helps me with
the basics and provide many nutritional advice, which I find very valuable (38)
Since then, I have been going to the gym 4 times a week after work. I believe this routine
has been very really helpful in helping me lose weight and prevent obesity or
cardiovascular disorders. Hitting the gym is not just a great way to keep fit, but it is also
good for relieving stress.
39. *Describe an occasion when you lost something in public place.
Item that I lost:
Even now I bought a new
one for me, I still feel a bit sad whenever I recall what happened last month.

which ended in 1975 and this is one of the historical highlights of our country
- Undergone hundreds of years under the colonization of foreign invaders and this
is the last war before a new era of peace and independence is open for us
- It is an unforgettable period of history for some reason. Firstly, it is the brave
fighting spirit of the Vietnamese people. Our country was divided into the
Northern part and the Southern part. Communication at that time was almost
impossible and people across the country were living in poverty and poor
conditions. However, our soldiers still fought very bravely with the help and
support of local people
- Reason 2: remarkable because no one could think that we won the war. When
compared to such a developed country like America, we never thought that we
could defeat them. But we could do it with the whole Vietnamese effort. April,
30th,1975 was the day we gained independence from the invaders, and from now
on, we hold an annual celebration to pay honor to those who sacrifice for the
country
