GRADE 9 STUDENTS PERFORMANCE TASK PROPOSAL
I. TITLE: PLASTIC BOTTLES & PAPER SEGREGATION: A PERFORMANCE TASK IN
SCIENCE QUARTER 3 UNIT 2 OF GRADE 9 STUDENTS
II. DATE: March 4 – March 22, 2024
III. VENUE: Luis A. Ferrer National High School
V. TARGET PARTICIPANTS:
This activity is intended only to all Grade 9 students of Luis A. Ferrer
National High School as part of their Performance Task in Unit 3 Module 2 entitled
Climate.
VI. RATIONALE:
This performance task will encourage the students to practice waste
segregation and collection of recyclable materials in school which could
teach them the value of discipline and concern for the environment and
protection as it relates to sustainable development.
The proceeds of the recyclable materials will be used in purchasing
snake plant and additional segregation bins to be placed in every floor of
the school building.
VII. OBJECTIVES:
To increase awareness to students to practice waste segregation and
recovery of recyclable waste.
To ensure an efficient and effective solid waste management system
in school.
To install the value of environmental concern students and the
importance of savings through waste segregation program.

To raise fund in purchasing snake plants which will be given to all
sections of Grade 9.
VIII. IMPLEMENTATION METHODOLOGY:
Grade 9 students will conduct orientation in all Grade Level about their
performance task.
Each section will be given 2 empty boxes, one box is intended for used
papers and the other one is for empty plastic bottles. These boxes will be
put at the back of each room.
Every Friday, Grade 9 students will collect the segregated plastic bottles and
paper in each room.
On March 22, 2024 after the Quarter 3 periodic test, all collected plastic
bottles and used papers will be sold to a junk shop. The collected funds will
be use in buying snake plant and additional trash bins.
IX. BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS:
None
