Safety Inspection
• regular examinations of the
workplace to recognize and
evaluate existing and potential
hazards and recommend corrective
action.
• It is also a tool for measurement or
evaluations for the
implementations of safety and
health standards. (Proactive)
Safety Inspection and Audits
Safety inspections look for hazards, risks, and other
tactics that might prevent a company from operating
safely. Meanwhile, safety audits examine whether
programs and strategies are meeting a company's
goals. Both are important components of a
workplace safety plan. Audits are typically performed
less frequently than inspections. The goal of
anaudit is usually to assess overall compliance with
one or more regulations, internal policies, or other
compliance drivers

OBJECTIVES AND
PURPOSE
PURPOSE
Inspections are important as they allow you to:
• listen to the concerns of workers and supervisors
• gain further understanding of jobs and tasks
• identify existing and potential hazards
• determine underlying causes of hazards
• recommend corrective action
• monitor steps taken to eliminate hazards or control
the risk (e.g., engineering controls, administrative
controls, policies, procedures, personal protective
equipment)

Formal or Planned Informal/Continuous or On-

are regularly scheduled examinations that are routine checks of the workplace or
are formally documented with the use of a equipment usually carried out on a daily
checklist and a report that includes basis to prevent injury, illness and property

CHECKLIST
EXAMPLE: “TO DO LIST”
A checklist serve as reminders of what to look for and as
records of what has been covered.
A checklist should have columns to indicate either
compliance or action date, specific violation, a way to
correct it and a recommendation, and space for the
inspector’s signature and inspection date.
