Statement of the problem
This study aims to find out the psychological needs of students with ofw parents among g12
students.
Specifically it intends to answer the following;
1. What are the experiences of students in terms of;
Emotional health
Parental needs
Teachers support
Social behavior
2. How do the student with ofw perform when it comes to academic
3. How having an ofw parents affect the psychological needs of the student
Review of related literature
A family is something that we can treasure, because of the affection and happiness that is being
shared inside the house. Having a whole family is such a wonderful experience that we can have.
But sometimes being lack of financial support is the reason, why our parents need to go to
abroad. It is to support their children for their brighter future. Being one of the child who has an
OFW parent is difficult because the children have a great need for their parents, not only
financially but also for their sense of needing to their parents. Specifically when they have an
event in school like family day.

This chpater presents the relevant literature and studies that
the researcher consdered in strengtening the importtance of the
present study. It also presents the synthesis of the art to fully
understands the research for better comprehension of the study.

Working abroad to provide for their children needs and future is
one of the priority of an ofw worker, however leaving their child
that is seeking for their presence to provide is hard, dr.

growing up away from your mother is difficult, because you are
seeking for their presence beside you and support. According to

As cited in calantas and lobaton 2018 children that has ofw
parents have an behavioral problem and dropping out of school.
Having an addiction in alcoholic drinks and cigarettes. Because
their parents is working abroad and is not there to guide and
stop them from addiction.
And children being left by the parents to work on abroad
experiences loneliness and longiness in their parents presence.
Some children might do rebellious things to their parents,
because of not being there and lack of support financially and
mentally. Children who are left behind by their parents to work
in abroad for their child brighter future is being misunderstood
by their child, one of the reason is the lack of time, support,
care and guide coming from the parents
Aguilar 2020 state that, children that is being left behind
experiences dealing alone with their problems in school, house
and even dealing with their classmates that has complete family
Parents that is working abroad should make themselves available
when their child is seeking for parental support, furtheremore to
make their child that there is a shoulder to cry on and are there
to give them comfort to foster their relationship, recommended by
burgos et al. 2020

The findings concided with Gonzales at al. 2019 and Jovero 2021
that when the mother is the one that is working abroad, is
weighty.esoecially when the mother is the one that is working
abroad. However, living without mother beside is like living
with an unexplainable pain that we can never explain the burden
carrying by the child that is left by their mother to work in
abroad.
Through media, student that has ofw parent can communicate and
maintain a positive relationship with their parents. Mendoza and

Additionally burgos et al, 2020 and abenir 2019 they highlighted
that ofw should maintain their communication and connection to
their child. to make their child feel their support and presence
towards them. It is to maintain a strong relationship in their
child.
According to findings of calantas lobaton 2018, Aguilar 2020,
burgos et al. 2020, Mendoza and cruz 2020, distor et al. 2021,
jovero 2021, and chua et al. 2022. Students want to share their
achievements and tell a story about their day through internet,
but it is affected by the weak internet connection and working
time of their parents . overall, most students shared that they
are experiencing hard time when it comes to academic, because
their parents is far away to guide them.
Relationship of the Present Study to the Literature and Studies
Revealed
The Studies of (Aguilar 2020) is parallel to the present study
since the study discussed the needs of the student that has an
ofw parent
The study conducted by burgos et al. 2020 are related to the
present study since the study discussed the acceptance and
understanding of the students in their parents that is working
abroad.
However, the present study is different from the related
literature and studies, the present study will analyze the
psychological needs of the students with an ofw parents
