3:- Statement Vs Questions


S: You are going to college.
Sub. Verb

Q: Are you going to college?


Verb. Sub.

In a statement the verb comes after the subject. But in a question it comes
before the subject.

Examples:
 I asked him where was he going.

 She enquired him when would he return from Mumbai.

 She asked him what could she do for him.

Rule No – 4: SINCE RULE

If since is used as a conjunction to denote time, it must be preceded by present


perfect tense and it has to be followed by simple past tense as given below.

Ex:

1. I have met him twice since he became the CM in 2019.

2. He has given up smoking since he fell in love with her.

3. I have not seen him since he got a job.

Note: If wish is followed by past perfect tense (Had + V3). It shows, a
past regret.
Example:
I wish I had studied hard. (I didn't study hard. )
