Portfolio 1 – Individual Long Turn
Good day, teacher and my fellow listener. I wish you both a wonderful day. Now, I would
like to present my Individual Long Turn.
Teamwork is an essential skill that requires practice. I had a memorable experience working on a
business negotiation project with three classmates. Our task was to simulate a deal between a
large corporation and a foreign supplier.
At first, we faced several challenges. No one in our group wanted to become a leader, which led
to poor organization, unclear task distribution, and rushed work. As a result, our
presentation lacked depth and failed to meet course requirements. In addition, After the video
had been done, another issue arose—no one wanted to take responsibility for submitting the
project, causing disagreements and further miscommunication. Additionally, we did not follow
the correct submission format, leading to major mistakes.
Fortunately, we were given a second chance to redo our work. This time, we realized that we
much work together in order to have a successful video. Therefore, we approached the task more
carefully, ensuring we understood the necessary processes for effective teamwork. We appointed
the oldest member as the team leader, discussed our objectives in detail, analyzed the topic
thoroughly, and divided the workload fairly. Through this experience, we naturally developed a
deeper understanding of teamwork.
As a result, not only did we achieve a much better outcome, but we also gained a valuable soft
skill that will benefit us in the future. Most importantly, I realized that shifting responsibility
never leads to success. In a team, everyone must work together to achieve success, discuss
together to have a detailed content, and find solutions together when having problems, especially
while ensuring tasks are distributed according to each member's strengths. A truly effective team
is one where responsibility is shared, and every opinion is respected.

That was my personal experience in developing teamwork skills. Now, I will move on to the
Two-Way Discussion.
Two-Way Discussion
1. What are the advantages of working in a group compared to working individually?
Working in a group has numerous advantages over working alone. Firstly, responsibilities are
shared, which reduces the workload for each individual. Additionally, teamwork encourages
diverse perspectives and creativity, leading to more comprehensive and well-rounded results.
For example, in a research project, a team can gather and analyze information from various
sources, ensuring accuracy and depth in their findings. Compared to working individually, group
work often leads to more innovative ideas and a higher level of productivity.
2. What are the key challenges faced by groups when working together? How can these
challenges be effectively addressed?
Some common challenges in teamwork include:
Differences in opinions: To address this, the group should encourage open discussions
and find a solution that satisfies everyone.
Unequal workload distribution: To prevent this, responsibilities should be assigned
fairly from the beginning.
Scheduling conflicts: Using technology, such as online meetings or group chats, can
help maintain effective communication and coordination.
3. How important is communication in group work? What strategies can improve
communication among group members?
Communication is the foundation of successful teamwork. Without clear and effective
communication, members may misunderstand each other, leading to delays and inefficiency.
So some strategies to improve communication within a team:
Hold regular meetings to track progress and resolve any issues.
Use online communication tools like emails, group chats, or project management
software to exchange information efficiently.
Encourage active listening and mutual respect, ensuring that everyone’s opinions are
heard and considered.
In conclusion, teamwork offers many benefits but also comes with its challenges. However, with
strong collaboration and effective communication, a team can work smoothly and achieve the
best results.
Thank you for listening. I sincerely appreciate any feedback that will help me improve
further.
