Surah Al-Fatiha

Transliteration: Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem. Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil 'aalameen. Ar-

Translation: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah,
the Lord of all the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of
Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight
path. The path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have
brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray.

Tafsir: Surah Al-Fatiha is known as the essence of the Qur'an. It is a comprehensive prayer
for guidance, mercy, and forgiveness from Allah. It expresses the foundational themes of
Islamic faith: Allah’s sovereignty, mercy, and the need for guidance.

Virtues: It is said that Surah Al-Fatiha is the most important chapter in the Qur'an, often
called 'Umm al-Kitab' (the mother of the book). It is recited in every unit of prayer (Salah)
and has significant spiritual benefits, including protection from evil and bringing blessings.

Surah Al-Ikhlas
Transliteration: Qul huwa Allahu ahad. Allahu as-Samad. Lam yalid wa lam yoolad. Wa lam
yakul lahu kufuwan ahad.

Translation: Say, 'He is Allah, [Who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor
is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.'

Tafsir: Surah Al-Ikhlas focuses on the oneness of Allah (Tawhid). It affirms that Allah is
unique, eternal, and beyond any human-like qualities. It is a powerful declaration of
monotheism, emphasizing that Allah has no partners, no beginning, and no end.

Virtues: It is said that reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas three times is equivalent to reading the whole
Qur'an. It is a Surah that provides immense blessings and is often recited for protection,
forgiveness, and strength.
Surah Al-Ma'un
Transliteration: Ara'ayta allathee yukadhibu bideen. Fadhalika allathee yadu'u alyateem.
Wala yahuddu 'ala ta'amil miskeen. Fawaylul lilmusalleen. Alladhina hum 'an salatihim
saahoon. Alladhina hum yurawna wa yamna'oonal ma'oon.

Translation: Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense? For that is the one who
drives away the orphan and does not encourage the feeding of the poor. Woe to those who
pray but are heedless of their prayer. Those who do not do good deeds and do not help
others.

Tafsir: This Surah speaks about the hypocrisy of those who outwardly appear to be religious
but neglect their duties toward the less fortunate and fail to act with sincerity. It condemns
those who mock the needy and are careless in their worship.

Virtues: The Surah emphasizes the importance of sincerity in worship and helping those in
need. Reciting it brings attention to one's social responsibility and warns against hypocrisy.

Surah An-Nas
Transliteration: Qul a'udhu birabbil-nas. Malikin-nas. Ilahin-nas. Min sharril-waswasil
khannas. Alladhi yuwaswisu fee sudoorin-nas. Minal jinnati wan-nas.

Translation: Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of
mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, who whispers in the breasts of
mankind, among jinn and among mankind.'

Tafsir: Surah An-Nas is a supplication for protection from the evil of Satan and harmful
whispers, both from jinn and from humans. It highlights the importance of seeking Allah’s
refuge against unseen and unseen harms.

Virtues: It is a Surah for seeking refuge and protection from harm, mental distress, and
negative influences. Its recitation is particularly beneficial for spiritual protection.

Surah Al-Asr
Transliteration: Wal-asr. Innal insana lafee khusr. Illa alladhina aamanu wa 'amilu as-
saalihaati wa tawassaw bil-haqqi wa tawassaw bil-sabr.

Translation: By time, indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and
done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
Tafsir: Surah Al-Asr is a reminder of the fleeting nature of time and the importance of using
it for good deeds. It encourages belief, action, truth, and patience, all essential qualities for
success in this life and the hereafter.

Virtues: Reciting Surah Al-Asr brings blessings and success in one’s endeavors. It also serves
as a reminder to reflect on how one spends their time.

Surah An-Nasr
Transliteration: Iza jaa'a nasrullahi wal-fatih. Wa ra'aytan-nasa yadkhuloona fee deenillahi
afwajaa. Fasabih bihamdi rabbika wasta'ghfirhu. Innahu kana tawwabaa.

Translation: When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest, and you see the people
entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes, then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord
and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.

Tafsir: Surah An-Nasr is a promise of victory and success for the believers. It was revealed
when the Muslims conquered Makkah, marking the victory of Islam. It encourages the
believers to remain humble, to praise Allah, and to seek forgiveness.

Virtues: This Surah is often recited for victory and triumph. It teaches the importance of
gratitude, repentance, and recognizing Allah’s favor.

Surah Al-Falaq
Transliteration: Qul a'udhu birabbil-falaq. Min sharri ma khalaq. Wa min sharri ghasiqin iza
waqab. Wa min sharri an-naffathaati fil 'uqad. Wa min sharri haasid-in iza hasad.

Translation: Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn, from the evil of what He has created,
and from the evil of the darkness when it settles, and from the evil of the blowers in knots,
and from the evil of the envier when he envies.'

Tafsir: Surah Al-Falaq seeks refuge from all harmful creations, focusing on the evils of envy,
black magic, and dark forces. It is a plea for Allah's protection against harm.

Virtues: Reciting Surah Al-Falaq provides protection from external and internal harm,
especially negative influences like envy and sorcery.
Surah Al-Mulk
Transliteration: Tabaarakalladhi biyadihi al-mulk wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer. Alladhi
khalaqal mawt wal-hayaat liya'luwakum ayyukum ahsanu 'amala. Wa huwa al-azeezul
ghafoor.

Translation: Blessed is He in whose hand is the dominion, and He is over all things
competent. [He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed—
and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.

Tafsir: Surah Al-Mulk is a reminder of Allah's sovereignty over all creation. It reflects on the
purpose of life and death, which is to test human beings in their deeds. The Surah
emphasizes the greatness and power of Allah.

Virtues: Reciting Surah Al-Mulk brings protection from the punishment of the grave and
increases one's reflection on the Creator's greatness.
