ABSTRACT
This study investigates the impact of social media on the academic
performance of Grade 12 students of St. Isidore Labrador Child Development
Center Inc. The research examines the frequency and nature of social media
use among these students, exploring their preferred platforms and perceptions of
how social media affects their studies. The findings reveal a complex
relationship, where excessive social media use can negatively impact academic
focus and time management, potentially leading to lower grades. While some
students utilize social media for educational purposes, the study highlights the
need for interventions promoting responsible social media use and effective time
management skills to enhance academic success in the digital age. The
research contributes to a growing body of literature exploring the multifaceted
relationship between social media and academic outcomes, offering valuable
insights for educators, administrators, and parents seeking to support student
success in a technology-driven world. The recommendation from this research
includes: Digital Literacy Programs, Social Media Awareness Campaign, Parent
Involvement, School Policies, and Further Research.
Keywords: Social media, academic performance, digital literacy, time
management, distractions, learning, intervention, digital citizenship.
