Nowadays, most of the people love holidays because it is an

opportunity to have a break from routine life as well as to refresh

ourselves. We can travel around our native country as well as travel
abroad. I am a Myanmar Nationality and I usually go on a journey or a
trip inside my country. But during my last summer holidays, my family
visited Thailand, our neighboring country.
We decided to go during Thingyan holidays as all my family members
were free from duties. We made preparations since early this year. We
made airflight and hotel bookings online. We arrived at Yangon
International Airport on the first day of Thingyan holidays. We checked
in for our flight and examined for admissibility by immigration officers.
We flied with Myanmar National Airlines. I was very excited to see
green fields, rivers, groups of buildings, the plane’s wing, jet engines,
blue sky and clouds through the porthole by my seat. We arrived at
Suvarnabhumi Airport after about one hour flight. We stayed at
Rambuttri Village Hotel in the heart of the vibrant city, Bangkok. We
visited/paid homage to/toured some famous pagodas in Bangkok. The
most famous ones are the Sacred Emerald Buddha, Wat Arun (the
temple of Dawn) and the four-faced Buddha. We were amazed to see
breathtaking ancient architectural works, sculptures, relief carvings, and
paintings at the pagodas. We also got a glimpse of people wearing
elegant Thai traditional dress. We also explored the Grand Palace. It is
made up of numerous buildings, halls, pavilions, gardens and
courtyards. We went sightseeing on a Chao Phraya express boat. We
saw beautiful and breathtaking night sceneries along the river including
jetties, Rama VIII Bridge, decorative lighting of high rise offices and
luxurious hotels. We celebrated/ reveled Songkran water festival at
Khaosan Road. It was a designated path with pavilions, overhead
sprinklers and many revelers.
Celebrating Thingyan or Songkran means welcoming the new year. We
had an unforgettable memory to play with water foam. We shot water
guns at each other happily until we were drenching wet. We went to
the Central World to buy presents for my aunties, friends and teachers.
It is a very gigantic shopping mall. We also enjoyed Thailand culture and
dances. We as well tasted Thai food. On the new year day of Thingyan,
we hired a car to go to the Pattaya beach. It is a coastal holiday resort
with sandy beaches backed by huge hotels. We took many family
photos together. We saw surf-skiing and motorcycle boats riding
activities. We played with sand, built sandcastles and flied a kite. We
relished (enjoyed) sunset view at the beach in the evening. We swam at
the beach as well as in the swimming pool of the hotel we stayed. I was
very happy to learn geography in real life by observing headland, stacks,
seashells and sand in the beach.
I had lots of fun during my travelling abroad. In addition, it gave me an
opportunity/chance to learn different culture, tradition, language and
food. We can practice some good culture and business in our home
country. I want to go to Europe if I have a chance and I am looking
forward to my next travelling abroad.
