Visit Hong Kong for Kids
Hong Kong Wetland Park
Do you like learning about nature? Visit Hong Kong Wetland Park!
What will you do?
You will explore the wetlands. These are areas of land that are partly covered by
5 water. Don’t worry, your feet won’t get wet! You will walk on a boardwalk above
the water. In the Wetlands at Work area, you will find a wetland crop such as rice
or water spinach. And in the visitor centre, you will learn about the animals that
live in this environment.
What will you see?
10 Over 200 types of birds visit the wetlands. The area is a rest stop for them as they
fly north or south. From November to March, you might see a black-faced
spoonbill. People seldom see these birds because there are only a few in the
world. They migrate southwards from North Korea to spend the winter in Hong
Kong. In summer, you will see thousands of butterflies. You will also meet Pui
15 Pui, a saltwater crocodile, as well as frogs, fish and crabs.
How can you get there?
One way is to take the MTR Light Rail to Wetland Park Station. Go out of the
station. Walk across the footbridge. Walk straight ahead. The entrance to Hong
Kong Wetland Park is on your left.
