FACTORS LEADING TO DIVERSE PURCHASE DECISIONS
Factors Why
Color Different people enjoy different preferences.
⁃ The color of your clothes may allow other people to see your true colors (it
helps to reflect your personality/ express yourself)
⁃ Some people choose the color that suits their body shape best:
• Blue in combination with gray will make you look taller.
• Dark colors, especially black, make you a little bit slimmer.
• Brighter tones and horizontal stripes can help you look bigger.
Mood -Wearing does great influence on one's mood.
⁃ Some people decide to go shopping when they feel bad/ unlucky.
•I usually wear what I like, so that I feel happy and confident.
• I feel unlucky/out of luck lately, I need to buy something red to reverse/
get rid of bad luck.
Season - The decision on what clothes to buy also depends on different periods of
time in a year.
• Flowy and thin fabrics are great for spring and summer.
• Wool is for fall and winter: You can mix and match types of fabrics (light
with heavy)
Quality - The quality of clothes is the first thing I will think about while going
shopping.
⁃ Quality clothes can last for years/ stand the test of time.
⁃ Some people simply want their clothes to last a long time, so they buy a
certain brand of clothing that is known for its good quality
Brand name - Many people buy brand name clothing because they like the style. Indeed,
big names in the fashion industry always try to come up with new and
creative styles. It might make them feel important/ professional/ chic.
⁃ Other people buy brand name clothing. They feel it make them look more
stylish and hip simply because famous brands are often the trend-setters.
-Some people just like to have that name on their clothing to show off.

Gender - Men and women have very different shopping habits.


⁃ Often men will shop less and only when they really need new clothes
⁃ Women buy clothes more often and they usually pay more for their
clothing
Income - Rich/ affluent people tend to have a wider variety of choices on clothes
⁃ Poor people/ People with low/ limited income can only afford clothes
with reasonable prices.
Age range - Young and old people have different tastes in choosing clothes
Young:
You can sport all kinds of bright colors and loud prints. You will
absolutely look great with sneakers, printed shirts, cute sweater, dresses and
a lot more.
Old:
Old people should avoid wearing too many accessories; instead, they should
wear a look that has classic prints on them because nobody's going to
judge you for that.
Occupation/ - Some jobs require people to wear uniform.
Profession ⁃ Different companies have different dress codes. For example, my company
has a strict dress code ⁃ all male employees are expected to wear suits

When you dress better, you are automatically treated better.
