5. It is your job to register the chemical substances of your new product according to the
REACh regulation. The structure of the product is described below. Your manager states
that it is sufficient to submit one REACh registration. How do you react?

Product-Level Substance Substance Substance

substances of a product are essential to registered as per REACh regulation. My reaction will be
that I will suggest my manager to submit registration for all substances of the product.

6. Which waste treatment strategies can be applied for textile waste which contains out of
mixed fibers?

Ans:

Waste treatment strategies:

i. Mechanical Recycling: Involves shredding and sorting textile waste into different
fiber types to create new textile products or materials.

ii. Chemical Recycling: Utilizes various chemical processes to break down mixed
fibers into their basic components, enabling the creation of new fibers or materials.

iii. Energy Recovery: Involves the conversion of textile waste into energy through
processes like pyrolysis, where the waste is burned to generate heat or electricity.

iv. Upcycling: Refers to transforming textile waste into higher-value products without
breaking down the fibers.

v. Landfilling: While not an ideal solution, landfilling is the disposal of textile waste
in designated landfill sites. However, efforts should be made to minimize landfilling
and prioritize more sustainable treatment options.

impact on environment. Moreover, there is more waste in the world as a result which is
detrimental for the world.
