Conformity when to peers can take the form of adaptation to social norms imposed by ones schoolmates
(e.g. This influence can be both positive and negative.
ICMA students employ a variety of strategies to effectively avoid peer pressure and maintain academic
honesty. One crucial approach is building a supportive network. Engrossed in each other’s company,
students benefiting from similar sociodemographic contexts and shared worldviews and goals, can create
a sphere in which mutualism is the rule, rather than competition. This residency gives them a feeling of
belonging which motivates and encourages them to be studious.
Additionally, the capacity for time management is of paramount importance with regard to the ability to
compartmentalize academic tasks from leisure pursuits.
It is common for ICMA students to use planners or digital management tools in order to manage their time
effectively, in order to schedule as well as allocate time for both academic pursuits and leisure activities.
The balance playing a significant role in alleviating the stress, which peer pressure can impose.
Fostering Self-Confidence
Another important determinant of. is self-confidence, ie. Secure students in terms of ability and choice are
less vulnerable to pressures that do not go with their beliefs, and their goals for their studies. The relevance
of self-knowledge and self-compassion is emphasized by ICMA, and students are encouraged to appreciate
their own strengths as well as to accept and enjoy their own “apprenticeship.
Open Communication
Furthermore, maintaining open links with mentors and peers will be an advantage to resist peer pressure. It is highly
recommended that students openly discuss the experience and obstacles that they face, thereby creating a climate of
acceptance in which students can readily ask questions and seek advice or support without the risk of being judged.
In this dialogue not only connections, but also the sensation of belonging in the ICMA in the background
is maintained.
In conclusion, while peer pressure is an inevitable aspect of student life, ICMA students demonstrate resilience
through supportive networks, effective time management, self-confidence, and open communication.
Implementing these approaches not only improves academic attainment but also creates a conducive
environment to promote personal growth and achievement.

In Pakistan, brain drain has become an alarming issue, with thousands of highly skilled
and well-educated individuals migrating every year to countries where they find better
                       opportunities.

      Reg # 20223553
three years, the figures are staggering. In 2022, approximately 832,339 people migrated,
with 386,574 being highly skilled and qualified. In 2023, the total number rose to 862,625, with 383,379 being
highly qualified. In 2024, the total was 727,381, with 304,727 of them being highly skilled and qualified individuals
(Source: Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment)1.
In continuation, another report released by Gallup revealed that over two-thirds of young Pakistanis surveyed
expressed a desire to work and study abroad. Moreover, 50 percent of them stated that they would never return
to their homeland.
                                                                                         (Source: Dawn News)
One argument often presented in defense of brain drain is that those working abroad bring foreign remittances
into Pakistan, which significantly helps the current country’s economy. However, it is essential to emphasize the
term current when referring to the country’s economic condition. While foreign remittances may provide short-
term support to the country’s reserves, in my opinion, brain drain ultimately harms the economy and businesses
in the long term. Let us now explore how brain drain is detrimentally affecting Pakistan’s economic future.
If we look at the foreign remittances received from overseas, we can see the following figures:
  •      In 2022, Pakistan received USD 29,889.21 million;
  •      In 2023, it was USD 26,350.36 million;
  • In 2024, the figure rose to USD 34,661.16 million.
                                                                                                            (Source: SBP)
These remittances provide short-term relief to the country’s financial reserves. However, as we have discussed
earlier, while foreign remittances contribute to immediate economic stability, the long-term impact of brain drain
cannot be ignored. The continuous migration of skilled professionals is leading to a shortage of talent in critical
sectors, and this poses a serious challenge to the country’s sustainable growth and development.
The cost of this remittance remains uncalculated. Due to the continuous migration of skilled workers, the country faces
a growing skill gap, making it increasingly difficult to innovate and compete on a global scale. This brain drain not only
deprives the economy of talented individuals but also weakens key sectors such as education, healthcare, and technology.
The highly educated and skilled minds are not only assets but essential for the sustainable growth of any economy.
To understand why people, leave we can refer to another Gallup survey, where respondents were asked: “Which
of the following best describes your current financial situation?”
58 percent said they were struggling financially.
                                         (Source: Gallup Pakistan)
Our finance professionals, who could have been contributing to Pakistan’s financial stability, are helping foreign
countries manage their finances efficiently. Our engineers, who could have been developing technology in
Pakistan, are instead creating innovations that are supplied globally. According to the WHO, we already have a
shortage of doctors, yet medical professionals continue to leave.
If these skilled and educated minds remained in Pakistan, they would directly contribute to GDP growth and
foreign reserves far more than the approximately $34 billion in remittances we receive annually.
The question is not just why people are leaving, but what can be done to stop this loss. We need to create an
environment where professionals don’t feel the need to seek opportunities elsewhere. The government must
take serious steps to ensure job security, economic stability, and better research and development facilities.
Policies should encourage entrepreneurship and innovation so that skilled individuals can build their futures in
Pakistan rather than abroad.
At the same time, it is also our responsibility to change our mindset. Instead of seeing migration as the only way
forward, we should focus on making our own country a place worth staying in. If our professionals and skilled
workers continue to leave, we will keep losing not just talent but also our economic potential.
The real solution is not to rely on foreign remittances but to create opportunities within our borders. If our
educated minds and skilled professionals remain in Pakistan, we can build a stronger economy, a better future,
and a self-reliant nation. It is not just about financial gain; it is about securing our country’s future for the
coming generations.
The choice is ours. Either we keep watching our best minds leave, or we take action to build a country where they
want to stay.

(Hyderabad) The Evolution of Taxation: Historical Perspective
    Reg # 20230070
There are people here today who have been obliged to pay taxes and have been complaining about it for eternity.
To put it simply, the Ancient Mesopotamians paid taxes in the form of livestock and labor. As for the Egyptian
civilizations, there is written evidence of a tax system along with tax collectors.
Islam also discusses several forms of taxation encompassing Kharaj ( land tax), Ushr agriculture (tax), and jizya(
tax on non-Muslims) to ensure justice and well-being of society.
Taxation in the region first became a thing during British rule with the Income Tax Act of 1922, which formed the
bottom of Pakistan’s tax system. To quote U.S. Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes (1927): “Taxes are
what we pay for a civilized society”
Pakistan’s progression towards economic advancement is guided by numerous government programs aimed at
infrastructure, social welfare, and economic development. These programs are reliant on tax revenue to serve
their purpose and expand in scope.
CPEC continues to be the most reputed multi-trillion infrastructure project in Pakistan, which has significantly
fueled the economy. The collected tax revenue has also been directed to the development of highways, the M2
motorway, the energy and infrastructure projects as well as the development of the Gwadar port.
This initiative is the biggest tax funded social welfare program in Pakistan intended to provide monetary aid to
economically weaker sections of society. BISP serves not just as a poverty alleviation strategy, but also contributes
to economic development through increased demand for basic goods and services due to raised household
spending.
Tax revenues have been instrumental in funding affordable housing schemes, and the housing and construction
industry stands as a key pillar of Pakistan’s economy. The Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme seeks to deliver low-
cost housing to both low and middle-class families as well as generate employment and uplift ancillary industries
such as cement, steel and real estate development.
Ehsaas Program
The BISP foundation was further expanded to contain a greater scope of welfare initiatives which is why the
Ehsaas Program was birthed. The aim was to tackle directly provide financial support, educational aid, healthcare
services, and job opportunities. With sufficient tax money, the goal of Ehsaas is to address inequality and assist
underprivileged communities.
The administration has set aside a large portion of the tax income towards enhancing the quality of both
healthcare and education. The Sehat Sahulat Program, which offers health insurance to the less privileged
citizens, coupled with greater investments in public universities and vocational training centers showcase the
effective use of tax revenue towards enhancing a country’s human capital.
With effective utilization of tax revenue through these projects, Pakistan can achieve sustained economic growth,
reduced disparities, and enhanced quality of life.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, the taxation system in Pakistan is one that offers both its fair share of woes and prospects.
True, there are a number of inefficiencies in the tax system, majorly over-reliant on indirect taxes which
has negative repercussions. At the mall down the street an amount that goes from my pocket while
purchasing the pair of shoes is exactly the same as when a tycoon buys that pair of shoes at the same shop
.
This prevents equitable growth while further widening the economic gap due to its regressive nature. On the
other hand there also exists vast scope for the country’s use of taxation policies as an avenue to enhance economic
development and reduce inequalities. By broadening the tax base, establishing a system of progressive taxes and
tax enforcement, Pakistan can change its tax policy from a burden into a driver of prolonged growth.
“The tax which each individual is bound to pay ought to be certain and not arbitrary “
Effective taxation, for instance, has the potential to release Pakistan’s economic potential and guarantee a better
future for all its citizens.

But, let’s be real-it’s not all sunshine and roses. Here
are a few things to watch out for: Conclusion:
1. Data Privacy: Financial info is sensitive. You don’t AI is changing the way accountants work, but it’s

2. Learning Curve: Not everyone’s tech-savvy. accountants can stay ahead of the curve, ready to
Adopting AI tools means accountants need to tackle the challenges of tomorrow with confidence.
learn new skills, and that takes time and training.
Rather than viewing AI as a threat, accountants should embrace it as an opportunity. AI assists management
accountants in handling complex tasks, such as financial forecasting and decision-making. The key to staying
relevant in this evolving landscape is to work alongside AI, develop new skills like data analytics and processing, and
AI is also transforming Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Leading ERP software providers, including
SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics, are integrating AI to improve data analytics. These advancements
allow businesses to analyze both internal and third-party data, making forecasting and predictive analysis more
effective. The key to leveraging AI in accounting is ensuring that data is accurate, clean, and well-structured, as
AI relies heavily on high-quality input to generate meaningful insights.
AI in Accounting Applications
    • Invoice Processing and Expense Management – Automating data extraction and categorization.
    • Data Analysis and Financial Reporting – Generating reports quickly and accurately.
    • Fraud Detection – Identifying anomalies and suspicious transactions.
    • Compliance and Audit Management – Ensuring adherence to regulations.
    • Business Intelligence and Strategic Planning – Offering deeper insights for better decision-making.
While AI can generate financial reports and summarize data within seconds, it cannot replace the judgment and
expertise of accountants. AI lacks the ability to provide personalized business advice or understand the nuances
of specific industries. Business owners still rely on accountants for strategic recommendations and customized
financial guidance. The accountants who leverage AI will have a competitive advantage over those who do not.
AI is not here to steal jobs; rather, it is here to transform them. The future belongs to accountants who embrace
AI and use it to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness. The real threat is not AI itself but accountants who
fail to adopt and adapt to AI-driven tools.
As AI continues to evolve, the need for accountants to learn how to utilize AI platforms and automation is
becoming increasingly critical. The key takeaway is that AI will not replace accountants, but accountants using AI
will replace those who do not. By staying informed, upskilling, and leveraging AI-driven solutions, accountants
can future-proof their careers and play a more strategic role in the financial landscape.
