ERECTION

A. Objective:

The purpose of this Safe Work Method Statement is to carry out the unloading, Fabrication and Erection
works of silencer, exhaust and Fuel pipe supports, Exhaust pipes & acoustic enclosure with all accessories
works at M/S. AB IN BEV.(SPR Distilleries),Bennur,T Narasapura,Mysore

B. Scope of work:

This Method Statement applies to Supply, stacking, shifting, and Fabrication and Erection works of 30MTR
Supporting structure with exhaust pipe. The work shall be carried out in accordance with the specific
requirements and corresponding approved drawings.

C. Materials:

 ISMC Channel -Various Sizes. (As per approved Drawing).


 MS Angle -Various sizes. (As per approved drawing).
 MS plates (As per approved drawing).
 Exhaust pipe Insulation materials, Aluminum sheets
 Accessories (bolt nuts with washer-various size & type as per approved drawing)
 Wire brush for welding portion cleaning. (Welder certificate shall be produced at site)

Sufficient quality tools & tackles, Accessories/Equipment’s like


 Equipment:

 For 30mtr structure erection 100T crane & F15 shall be used.

 Tools Generally used:

 Spanner kit.
 For insulation work sheet metal rolling machine, lock forming machine, other tools and tackle.
 Grinding machine with protection guard.(person should use proper PPE’s)
 Drilling & cutting Machine.
 Hacksaw frame with blade.
 Proper PPEs.
 Welding machine.
 Welding electrode.
 Gas cutting machine.
 Spare gas cylinder with valve caps.
 Leveling instruments (Plumb, sprit level and line tori).
 Measuring instruments.
 Lifting and shifting equipment’s (Hydra F15 If required)
 Ladder/scaffolding (if required).
 Lifting tools and tackles shall be used as per requirements.
 Anchor Fastener bolt nut and washer various size as per site condition.

 Compressed gas cylinders (DA/O2) and Valve cap is mandatory
 Fire extinguishers, Sand buckets.

F. Manpower Resource.

 Fitter cum welder
 Welder (Qualified welders only to be used at site and certificate shall be produced)

G. PROCEDURE FOR FABRICATION AND ASSEMBLY OF CHIMNEY


STRUCTURE WITH EXHAUST PIPE: -

 G.1PRE CHECKUPS: -
 Before commencement of work all related drawings should be approved.
 All the tools, tackles and equipment’s like cutting set, grinding machine, welding machine, marking
tools, lifting and handling equipment’s, testing equipment’s, measuring tools shall be available for
fabrication & erection work.
 Civil foundation of vertical chimney structure to be checked.
 Necessary Hot, Height work and lifting shifting permit obtained from safety department.

 G.2- FABRICATION AND ASSEMBLY OF STRUCTURE

 Total structure height :30m


 Total weight of the structure along with 2 No’s Vertical Pipes :14 tons approx.
 Structure material shall be unloaded near the assembly location.
 F15 crane shall be used to assemble pre-fabricated structures.
 1st 7.5mtr bottom welded frame shall be lift & hold by F15, one side inclined & Horizontal angle shall
be fastened. Opposite 1st welded frame shall be lift and hold by F15.Other side inclined & horizontal
angles shall be fastened. Now Bottom 7.5 Meters full frame is assembled. Likewise, second, third &
fourth frames shall be assembled at ground level with F15 crane. All the four frames shall be jointed
with fish angles.
 Once the structure is assembled, spirit level shall be checked and ensured.
 Sliding supports to the pipes shall be welded within the structure.
 Pipes shall be placed within structure.
 Pipe to pipe welding and pipe to sliding support welding shall be done.
 Ladders and platforms shall be fitted.

 G.3-ERECTION OF ASSEMBLED CHIMNEY STRUCTURE ON FOUNDATION:

 Selected suitable Main crane – 100T (Suitable for site condition – like crane radius, load chart)

 Compaction of crane outriggers area shall be checked.


 Crane shall be placed near the structure foundation with the outrigger in place.
 Wire slings shall be connected to top end of the structure (at 28.5Mtrs vertical angle).
 Another crane F-15, shall be placed at the rear side of the structure
 Slings shall be connected to the rear side.
 Once the main crane starts lifting, the rear crane shall progress forward towards the structure
foundation.
 Once the structure is lifted to 90 degree slings of the rear crane shall be removed.
 The structure is placed on the foundation and bolted tightly.
 Once it is deemed secure one workman with full body harness with double lanyard shall go to the top
of the structure through the ladder to unhook the slings.
 Once completed all the erection, cladding (Insulation) shall be done. The people shall go inside the
structure with double hardness safety belt; the belt shall be tied with fall arrester.

H. RECORDS:-
 Material site inspection reports for supplied materials. (IMIR inspection shall be offered for all the
materials at Site)
 Approved drawing copies.
 Support and pipe erection, shall be carried out under authorized supervisor and witnessed/Reviewed by
TPL. All the necessary work permits should be made at site before starting the work.

I. RESPONSIBILE:-

Site Engineer:
• He shall be responsible to ensure that the works are carried out with safe work method and as per
approved drawings, according to the Contract Specifications & approved method statement.
• To provide all necessary information and distribute responsibilities to his supervisors and work men
regarding the execution of work.
• To co-ordinate with the safety officer and to ensure that the works are carried out in safe practicing
method.
