SARS Cov-2 PCR - COVID-19 RT PCR*
SARS-COV-2 RNA* Negative
ICMR guidelines do not recommend relying on numerical Ct values for determining the infectiousness of COVID-19 patients and deciding patient management protocols.
TRUPCR®SARS‑CoV‑2 RT qPCR kit is a diagnostic kit that helps diagnose COVID‑19 infections, detects SARS‑CoV‑2 RNA from a suspected infection patient’s sample through Real‑Time
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The kit is used for this SARS-CoV-2 RT PCR test at Nirnayan Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. is detect three target genes (E, RdRP, and N gene) in two tube
formats.
Interpretation Guidelines :
Detected result indicates the presence of SARS-CoV-2.
Each "Detected" result has been verified using the confirmatory test.
False-positive is rare globally.
A repeat test of the freshly collected specimen may give different results due to the following –
1. From the appearance of symptoms, Viral load reduces day by day and one may clear the virus as early as 4.3 days.
"DETECTED” 2. As viral load reduces during recovery/resolution, the result of repeat testing, even within hours or day/s, can yield different results.
3. The new sample may have a low viral load due to the varied shedding of the virus.
4. Inherent variability due to improper sample collection and inadequate storage while due care is taken at Metropolis.
80% of patients with "Detected result may be asymptomatic.
A detected result does not distinguish between a viable/replicating organism and a non-viable organism
The "Not Detected" result indicates the absence of SARS-COV-2 in the given specimen. However, it does not rule out the infection
completely and should not be used as the sole basis for making decisions related to treatment and other patient management decisions.
"Not detected" result may be seen due to -
a. RT PCR done on Nasopharyngeal swab having 44% false negativity.
"NOT DETECTED" b. Test done too early or too late where the virus load is below the detection limit.
c. Improperly collected and stored specimens.
d. Viral mutations
If a subsequent test is tested positive detected), it may indicate an infection acquired subsequently or an increase in viral load to a
detectable level after the first test.
