2025 – SPRING TERM
VOCABULARY AND SPEAKING SYLLABUS.
LECTURER(S):
Vocabulary, and Speaking: Chema
Celia could also assist with vocabulary and speaking, especially during weeks
when Speaking Practice requires extra attention.
SCHEDULE:
Wednesday, from 8.00pm to 9.30pm.
PART ONE: 8.00pm to 8.15pm (Introduction).
PART TWO: 8.15pm to 8.30pm (Vocabulary).
PART THREE: 8.30pm to 8.45pm (Guides).
PART FOUR: 8.45pm to 9.30pm (Individual Speaking Practice + Self-
Study).
METHODOLOGY:
PART ONE: 8.00 – 8.15: Introduction to the Topic.
The weekly topic is introduced, and general questions will be asked to students, to
answer and to debate.
PART TWO: 8.15 – 8.30: Vocabulary List.
A list of vocabulary related to the topic will be considered and explained in class.
Students MUST prepare this vocabulary list at home before the lesson.
PART THREE: 8.30 – 8.45: Structures, guides, and tips.
This third part focuses on the required structures for each section of the exam. The
lecturer will also provide general tips to help students achieve the best possible score.
PART FOUR: 8.45 – 9:30: Individual Speaking Practice + Self-study time.
The last part of the lesson is dedicated to Individual Speaking Practice. Every week, you
MUST prepare a specific structure in advanced to be able to practice. PARTICIPATION
IN INDIVIDUAL SPEAKING PRACTICE IS COMPULSORY.
The Individual Speaking Practice consists of a mock test in which, by using a computer
and a voice recorder, the student will completed a simulated exam.
- The Individual Speaking Practice lasts 10 minutes approximately.
- The Individual Speaking Practice will not be supervised by the lecturer at the
time.
- The lecture will later provide feedback by calling students individually to
discuss mistakes, answer questions, and offer advice based on their performance
in the previous session.
The Self-Study Time is the time you are to spend while your classroom mates are
completing their Individual Speaking Practice, or receiving feedback from the lecturer.
You may use it to review materials or complete assignments.
MATERIALS: No specific materials are required for Vocabulary, and Speaking Lesson
apart from those materials provided to you in class by the lecturer. However,
complementary material for additional study could be available on Google Classroom
(or in printed form) during the term.
