1.
EVALUATION
STENGHTS:
The teacher prepared the pupils for the lesson with a thorough introduction which featured question and answer and exposition. This led to the
justification of the objectives of the lesson. The pupils became guided in the process. Logic Maposa, Nyatito Annastancia and Muyambo Alice were
outstanding in explanation of ………………. The clearly spelt out instructions ensured that the lesson remained on course. The adequacy of the
lesson content was also a huge factor that inevitably generated the interest of the learners. The learners had enough time for interaction to solve
problems, thus they helped each other to find solutions to the problems. The media relevance was also a contributory factor towards the success of
the lesson.
The lesson was well prepared with a lot of teacher and pupils illustrations. The media was very attractive and concise. There was appropriate amount
of detail. Pupils like Logic Maposa were motivated by the introduction which was a reflection of the key prior knowledge. This helped the whole
class to understand SUBTRACTION better. The lesson progressed well with most pupils activities carried out as planned. A variety of methods used
gave an opportunity for pupils with various needs to understand the SUBTRACTION CONCEPT.
WEAKNESSES:
The teacher did not fully give credit or recognition to very active participators. Pupils did not have sufficient time to express their own opinion;
therefore the lesson had too much detail focused for the pupils to note.
SOLUTIONS:
Rewards must be given where necessary to encourage, promote and sustain cooperation and participation in the class. Group work and class
presentation should be encouraged to open up avenues of feedback and make corrections where there are problems.
2. STENGHTS:
Most pupils participated and successfully answered the questions appropriately. Logic Maposa and Annastancia Nyatito were quick to point out
chemical and physical weathering. The lesson sequencing was also a factor that led to achievement of listing, describing and explaining of factors
affecting weathering. The samples of weathering debris gave the pupils a vivid example of the processes involved in weathering, as a result pupils
managed to understand the weathering in detail. The power point content was of good quality hence, pupils managed to interact effectively.
WEAKNESSES:
The lesson had much of exposition. This led to lesser participation by the learners. The quantity of work slotted was not finished on time. This
therefore meant that the quantity of work was too much for the pupils.
SOLUTIONS:
The group work activities need to increase as these will give more room for discussion. The work was then preferred to be completed as a home
work. In the next lesson and in future, the teacher will need to stream the quantity of work to correspond to the amount of time available.
3. EVALUATION
STENGHTS:
The pupils like Muyambo Alice and Manyengavana Gerald had no difficulties listing the …………. and were involved massively in the class
discussion. Only Nyatito Annastancia encountered a problem of explaining the ………………. There was instant remediation to correct the
misunderstanding. This pointed out that the methods that were being used were appropriate and effective. The introduction of the lesson convinced
the pupils into realizing that the lesson was very important. The interest developed from the start was maintained by tactical involvement of learners
in the learning process.
WEAKNESSES:
The lesson had a short presentation phase and an elaborated application phase. This was the main weakness. Pupils like Mupakamiso Patience
encountered some difficulties explaining the differences between …………………….. and ……………… she did not understand the concept during
presentation and was unable to gain more explanation from peers and teacher.
SOLUTIONS:
To fully utilize pupil centered methodologies, the teacher must also need to be careful to support the passive pupils so that they are not left out. The
teacher will improve in the coming lessons by asking directed questions to pupils in the class to check understanding. The group work presentation
will need to be done by every member of the group so that it can be objectively evaluated and the pupils who will be lagging are identified and
remediation executed.
4. EVALUATION
STENGHTS:
There was a timed mix of activities with adequate allocation of time and activities to be done. This allowed for the smooth development of lesson.
Also, this eliminated the boredom and decline in concentration levels as people alternated activities to avoid repetition of similar activities over time.
The use of a variety of media was also an important factor that gave rise to well timed concept development. The media use was well timed and
paced to allow sufficient accommodation of new information. Group discussion was also excellent because most pupils did well in groups.
WEAKNESSES:
The lesson had inadequate media for purposes of illustration which led to inability of some few students like Dilidence Munerei to explain their
assigned area. The activities coverage appeared problematic in that allocated time was used up before finishing the activities.
SOLUTIONS:
The teacher will strive to stream down the amount of activities to suit the time allowed. Further, there is also the need to mix up media used during
the lesson. More media must be brought into the lesson to support lesson delivery. The teacher will also plan to use a mix of approaches for lesson
delivery to improve the learning experience.
