5G and Beyond

Digital innovation is still largely driven by mobile connectivity. It helps governments

create beneficial societal effects while also providing people and businesses with a vast array
of disruptive technology. In order to uncover creative 5G use cases and generate new revenue
streams, the mobile industry is gradually shifting to the 5G standalone (SA) and 5G-
Advanced standards. More than half of operators anticipate implementing 5G-Advanced
within a year of the specifications' introduction, and as of January 2024, 47 providers were
providing commercial 5G services on SA networks.

Because 5G will supply the communication infrastructure needed for a variety of

smart city applications, it will have a significant impact on economies and society. One of the
several uses for 5G technology in smart cities is the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).
According to the Ericsson Mobility Report's November 2024 edition, by 2030, 5G mobile
subscribers would account for 60% of all subscriptions, with 500 million across the Middle
East and North Africa.

Possible Outcomes are 5G and beyond technologies, like 6G, bring faster speeds,
lower latency, and massive device connectivity, enabling real-time applications such as
autonomous vehicles and immersive AR/VR. Future networks promise speeds up to 1 Tbps,
sub-millisecond latency, and advanced features like AI-driven networks and quantum-
resistant security. These innovations will transform industries, support smart cities, and create
a fully connected, intelligent world.
