Shayan Modares's MUN motion.

Acknowledging the rapid advancement of space technologies and

the growing interest in off-earth industries, such as resource
extraction, space tourism, and satellite development, the Czech
Republic emphasizes the need for a global approach to regulate
these activities. It is essential to align such endeavors with the
principles of the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which designates
outer space as the "province of all mankind." A unified framework
can ensure that space remains a peaceful and cooperative
domain.

Recognizing the environmental challenges posed by space

economies, such as the proliferation of space debris and the
potential exploitation of celestial resources, the Czech Republic
proposes a focus on sustainability. This includes encouraging
research and investment in technologies that minimize debris and
reduce the environmental impact of space activities. Collaborative
international efforts to address debris removal and responsible
resource utilization must also be prioritized.

To ensure equitable access to the benefits of space economies,

the Czech Republic highlights the importance of capacity building
and knowledge sharing. Many developing nations lack the
resources and technology to participate in space-related activities.
ECOSOC should lead initiatives to facilitate the transfer of
expertise and technology to these countries, promoting their
inclusion in the growing space economy. Furthermore, a
dedicated fund, supported by space-faring nations and private
corporations, could provide financial assistance for research and
innovation in sustainable practices.

Conflict prevention and transparency are vital to fostering trust

among nations in this emerging sector. Mechanisms for resolving
disputes over space resources should be established, alongside
confidence-building measures that encourage collaboration. The
creation of a comprehensive international registry, maintained by
the United Nations, can enhance transparency by documenting
space activities and ensuring accountability.

The Czech Republic believes these measures will create a robust

and fair foundation for the rise of space economies while
safeguarding outer space as a shared resource for humanity. The
delegation invites the committee to adopt this motion for further
discussion and cooperative action.
