Reading aloud and answering oral questions
Read aloud the story A Trip to the Serengeti National Park. Then, answer orally the
questions that follow.
Mrs Mashaka is our Geography and the Environment teacher. One day, she taught us about
the national parks in Tanzania. She said, “The Serengeti is among the largest national parks
in the country. It has many animals, birds and insects.” She asked, “How many of you have
been to the Serengeti?” The whole class replied, “No one!” The teacher asked again, “Would
you like to visit the Serengeti?” We all replied with excitement, “Yes!”
A week later, Mrs Mashaka took our class to the Serengeti National Park. When we were in
the park, she asked us to write the names of the animals, birds and insects that we saw. She
divided us into three groups. The first group was asked to write the names of animals. The
second group was asked to write the names of birds. The third group was asked to write the
names of insects. It was a great experience.
We went back to school and reported what we had seen. The animals were lions, elephants,
giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes and monkeys. The birds were eagles, ostriches, fl
