Skateboarding
Three girls talk about their hobby
Azra
My older sister showed me how to skateboard when I was
five. These days, it’s the only thing I want to do in my free
time. Last year, I joined a skateboarding club for under-10s to
meet people with the same interest as me. Now we love
spending time together. When I’m good enough, I’d like to
enter some skateboarding competitions. I hope I never stop
skateboarding – even when I’m my grandparents’ age!
Hiyori
My mum was brilliant at skateboarding when she was young
and won lots of competitions. When I was six, she gave me
her old board to practise on. Since then, I’ve skateboarded
nearly every day! Learning to skateboard isn’t easy, but that’s
alright. I practise as much as possible, because that’s how I
keep improving. If you want to be good at skateboarding, you
need to do that.
Lilly
Three years ago, I learnt how to skateboard with my best
friend. We weren’t very good at first, but we still loved it! Now,
I skateboard for an hour each evening after school and at
weekends. I practise so much, because I do lots of
competitions. They’re always fun and a great way to watch
other girls who are fantastic at it. I’m not sure if I’ll continue
skateboarding when I grow up – that’s a long time from now!
