Nighthawk Ready Workshops
During these sessions, applicants will complete the Direct Enrollment Survey, record their results to use with choosing
classes for the Fall 2025 semester and view their program of study. You will learn how to check Holds, Financial Aid
checklists and who to contact for resolution and assistance (if applicable, forms will be provided to clear any holds, i.e.:
under 18, dual enrollment form, in-state tuition, etc.). Lastly, participants will determine their first semester’s
recommended courses, be taught how to access the registration system via SIS and how to select and register for
classes. You will need a laptop and phone for this session.

Northern Virginia Regional College Fair


The annual Northern Virginia Regional College fair welcomes more than 1,500 high school students from the Northern
Virginia area and helps them make connections with institutions across the United States. Students will have the
opportunity to visit with over 200 colleges and universities. NVRCF will take place on Wednesday, April 9 from 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. at EagleBank Arena on our Fairfax Campus.

Prom Dress Shop at Centreville High School


The Prom Dress Shop held at Centreville High School where girls can come and get a prom dress at no cost to them. The
shop is open April 4th-6th. Students must provide a valid student ID to enter the shop, and they may select one dress and
accessories. Attached you will find the flyers for this program.

FCPS Virtual Military Night


Thursday, April 10th, 6-8pm
FCPS students and their families are invited to our Virtual FCPS Military Night. Join us to learn about various military
pathways for high school graduates. All presentations will be virtual. More information here.
Coast Guard Academy Admissions Workshop Invite
I wanted to personally your students to an application workshop I am hosting in VA on April 27th at 1300 in the Arlington,
VA CG Ceremonial Honor Guard Facility. This would be a great opportunity for face-to-face time with me (the regional
admissions officer for VA) where you can ask in depth application review questions. Additionally, you will get the
opportunity to hear from multiple active-duty CG Officers and the local CG Recruiting Office. You and your students can

Military Academy Day 2025


Senator Mark Warner invites high school and middle school students, their parents or guardians, and school counselors
to Academy Day 2025. Attendees will be provided a comprehensive overview of the United States service academies
and their admission processes.

In addition, students will be able to meet with officials from all five academies as well as representatives from the
Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board, Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Richmond, ROTC
programs at the University of Virginia, the United States Marine Corps, the Virginia Military Institute, the Virginia Tech
Corps of Cadets, and the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership at Mary Baldwin University. Staff from Virginia
Congressional offices will be available to answer questions regarding the application procedures for congressional
nominations.

Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Sneak Peak


Virginia Tech invites you and your students to an informational brunch where we will share information about
opportunities at our university, specifically pertaining to the Corps of Cadets and College Access Collaborative. This will

College Access Fairfax: Financial Aid Sessions


College Access Fairfax will hold the following virtual Financial Aid presentations:

JumpStart2NOVA- Summer 2025 Opportunity for Graduating Seniors


JumpStart2NOVA is available this summer for qualified seniors graduating this June and planning to attend NOVA for
the Fall. Students may select one 3 credit approved course plus SDV 100: College Success Skills, at no cost!
▪ The application for JumpStart2NOVA is now open and closes at 5pm on Monday, May 5, 2025
▪ Courses begin on Tuesday, June 3, and end on Monday, August 11 (10 weeks)
▪ All classes will be offered asynchronously through NOVA Online.
▪ Courses are tuition free. Books and course materials are provided at no cost to the student through NOVA All
Access.
▪ Courses have been selected based on their usability in NOVA degrees and their status as part of the Uniform
Certificate of General Studies.

First time NOVA students will need to apply to NOVA and create an account to request the course(s) on the Dual Enroll
portal. Current DE students can skip the NOVA application and go straight to the Dual Enroll portal, selecting term
“JumpStart2NOVA 2025.” All students will be required to upload their current high school transcript and qualifying test
scores. Students must demonstrate college readiness to be eligible to take JumpStart2NOVA courses.
Please Note: This opportunity is for current 12th grade students only who are graduating in June. Grade level will be
confirmed by NOVA when reviewing uploaded student transcripts. 9th-11th grade students are not permitted to
participate in this specific program.

The Debbie Dogrul Scholarship, funded by The DDA Love Foundation -- the not-for-profit charitable organization of
Debbie Dogrul Associates, LLC. -- seeks to give a $3,000 one-time scholarship to a student who has
demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity and is on an upward trajectory, academically and personally. The
student should represent our core values of Dedication, Diligence, and Attentiveness (DDA) and apply them to her/his
community, school, academics and/or friends/family. This scholarship is for any student who plans to attend a 2-year
community college, a 4-year college/university, or a vocational/technical school. The student should have a minimum
2.5 grade point average. The student should demonstrate in a brief essay how these core values are reflected in her/his

Chamber Scholarship Applications Open


Applications are now open for business scholarships for graduating high school seniors provided by Mount Vernon
Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Scholarships of $2,000 will be awarded to graduating seniors pursuing further
education in a business related field. At least one scholarship will be awarded to each high school in our service area.
