Admissions Committee
Boston University Tanglewood Institute
45 West St
Lenox, MA 01240

Dear Members of the Admissions Committee,

Thank you for the generous scholarship of $1,000 that has been offered to me
for the upcoming Young Artists Wind Ensemble program. I kindly request
consideration for an additional $1,500 in scholarship assistance.

Recently, our family’s financial situation changed due to a personal and

unexpected circumstance. My grandfather, who has lived in China, has been
experiencing health issues and is no longer able to live independently. He is in
his 70s, widowed, and as my mother is his only child, he no longer has a
support system in China. As a result, he will immigrate to the US and move in
with us, and my family has committed to supporting him financially. Under this
circumstance, I would be grateful for the additional scholarship because it
would allow me to participate in the program.

Since I submitted my application, I have had many experiences that have

helped me grow as a musician. I have written a commissioned composition for
Northeast Ballet that will be premiered in May, as well as directing vocals for
and piano-conducting the musical Hadestown. I have also continued to study
percussion with my private teachers and members of the Yale Percussion
Group. I believe that attending the Tanglewood Institute would provide
invaluable experience that will both strengthen my application to college
music programs and help me grow as an artist.

Thank you for your consideration. I appreciate the opportunity to be part of

this prestigious program, and I hope that with additional support I will be able
to make the most of this incredible experience. Please do not hesitate to reach
out if you need any additional information or documentation.

Sincerely,

Kingston Czajkowski
