WORKING FOR GOD

Main Verse: John 10:17

In modern days when we say, “working for God”, what comes to people’s
minds are the jobs or roles they play in church. Some say “I’m in the choir”,”
I play instruments”, “I am an usher” and so on. But the true meaning of
working for God is not about the role you play in church with respect to your
talent.

When we read John 10:17, Jesus tells us that the Father loves him because
he lays down his life for the sheep. In other words, Jesus is telling us that
working for God, means playing your role as a shepherd of His flock. This is
simply called soul winning.

Soul winning is not just inviting someone to church so that it will increase the
attendance. Soul winning is not bringing people to a crusade to fill empty
chairs. Soul winning is bringing people to Christ.

Let’s look at the job of the shepherd. He sends the flock out to eat and
guides them towards the right pasture for them to graze. He also protects
them from attacks from wild animals and tends them when they are hurt or
ill.

This example Jesus gave shows us that bringing people to Christ in the form
of inviting them for church is not enough. We also must monitor and guide
them so that they grow in the Word or the way of the Lord.
