The Clever Rabbit
Once upon a time, in a big forest, there lived a clever rabbit. All the animals liked him because
he was kind and smart.
One day, a lion came to the forest. He was big, strong, and dangerous. The lion said, “I am the
king of the forest. Every day, I want one animal to come to me, so I can eat!”
All the animals were scared. Every day, one animal went to the lion. Then it was the rabbit’s
turn. The rabbit was not afraid. He had a plan.
The rabbit went to the lion very late. The lion was angry. “Why are you late?” he roared.
The rabbit said, “I was coming, but another lion stopped me. He said he is the real king of the
forest.”
The lion shouted, “Take me to him!”
The rabbit took the lion to a well with water. He said, “The other lion is inside the well.”
The lion looked into the well. He saw his own reflection in the water. He thought it was another
lion. He jumped in to fight — and drowned.
All the animals were very happy. The clever rabbit saved them all.
