Dear Hiring Committee,
I am writing to express my interest in the Academic Advisor position at
Galen College of Nursing. While I was on my academic path, I often felt at a
loss when making decisions during college. What classes to take, which
opportunities to purse, how I should set myself up for success in my future
professional life. I felt completely lost. Now, on the other end of a long
journey, I can look back and see every opportunity I missed.
This is why I want to become an Academic Advisor. I don’t think other
students should ever be in the same opportunity I was. And, with a
Bachelor’s in English and a strong commitment to Galen’s core values, I am
excited to provide the innovative, technology-driven, and student-focused
nursing education Galen strives for.
Throughout my education, I developed an appreciation for strong
communication, individualized support, and collaboration can positively
influence student success. My educational background in English has
honed my ability to listen and communicate. I can speak and write with
precision and tailor information to meet diverse needs—skills that are
necessary in building trusting and productive relationships.
I am particularly drawn to Galen’s proactive and data-informed approach
to advising, as well as its commitment to inclusivity and excellence. These
values resonate with my own values and beliefs. I want to create
environments where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered.
I am confident in my ability to support Galen’s advising team through
personalized student plans, collaborative problem-solving, and a steadfast
dedication to helping students thrive. I welcome the opportunity to bring
my skills, energy, and compassion to your community.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the
opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to Galen College’s continued
success.
Thank you,
Isaac Nelson
