 Definition of descriptive text
Descriptive text is a text which describe the
characteristics of something or someone. The
purpose of descriptive text is to describe and reveal
a particular person, place, or thing.

 Communication purposes
 To describe particular things, animal, place or
people in specific.
 Identify things, animal, place or people.

 Generic Structure
When writing descriptive text, there are 2 generic
structures of this text for our writing to be true. The
arrangements are: identification and description.
1. Identification.
This part is the beginning of the text. It contains
about the introduction of a person, place, animal, or
object will be described.
Example:
This is my friend Randy. His full name is Randal
Keith Orton, He is 17 years old. We have been friend
since childhood.
2. Description.

 In this part contains specific descriptions about
object that we will described.
Example:
Randy is tall and muscular man, he has black long
hair, pointed nose, and big round eyes. His skin is as
white as snow. His hobbies are playing games,
swimming, and travelling. Randy is not only
handsome, but also very friendly to his friends and
polite to his teachers.
Randy always smile for those who greeted him,
he is very kind and funny person. Many people like to
be friends with him, including me.

 Language features
1. Specific participant.
The object is not common, but specific (only one).
Examples: Borobudur temple. My mother, My
lovely cat.

2. Using adjectives
To describe the noun.
Examples: a beautiful island, a good-looking
man, a high monument, a warm place and
etc.
3. Using simple present
The sentence pattern used is simple present
because it tells the fact of the object
described.

Borobudur temple has beautiful structure.
4. Using action verb
Verb that describe an action.
Examples: He runs fast, Mario always plays
football every day, Natan walks like a
model.

My father is quite handsome man. Now, he is about

35 years old. He has well-built body because he always

pointed chin. He has slight moustaches and beard. He
has slight dark brown skin.

My father is a junior high school teacher. He

teaches sports. He always goes to school in early
morning and comes home in the afternoon around
03.00 pm. He works hard for his family. We all love him
so much. He is the best father in the world to me.

Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat is one of popular nature destination in

Papua, Indonesia. Raja Ampat is well-known tourist
destination for its beautiful beach, sea activities, and
wonderful underwater views. Raja Ampat is a natural
habitat of fish and sea animals. Raja Ampat is said to be
a hidden paradise in Eastern Indonesia.

The sea water is still very clear with many bright

and beautiful marine animals. Raja Ampat beach has
white sand, thus adding to the impression of the beauty
of this place. Raja Ampat is also a group of small islands
that have many steep and beautiful cliffs.

Lembah Pelangi Waterfall

 Lembah Pelangi Waterfall sounds unfamiliar for
either local or foreign tourists. Lembah Pelangi Waterfall
is located in Sukamaju village, Ulubelu sub district,
Tanggamus district, Lampung province, Indonesia. The
access to this place is quite difficult because Ulu Belu
sub district is a remote area in Lampung with its hilly
contours which make this tourist spot elusive.

Lembah Pelangi Waterfall has two levels where the

waterfall on the second level has two branches. The
height of the first level waterfall is about 100 meters,
while the second level waterfall is about dozens of
meters. The best enchantment of this waterfall is the
rainbow which appears between the valley and the
waterfall as the name suggests. The soft flowing
gurgling waterfall sounds is like a chant of nature which
can remove the tiredness of the long trip to go there.
Under the waterfall, there are several spots of warm
water which can be an interesting spot for bathing.

In this place, you will be shown a panorama of

natural beauty which is very interesting for every pair of
eyes seeing it. Rocky hills accompanied by leafy trees
will actually soothe both your eyes.

 My laptop

I have a laptop. My father bought it for me last

week. It is a nice laptop with blue color. It has a 14-inch
screen. This is the latest product from Aser.

The performance of this laptop is also great. I can

play games that require high specification using it. I can
also play music, watch movies and draw using it. And
the most important thing is that I can typing using it.
So, if I have the assignment from my teachers, it will
help me.

I can also find many references from internet using

my laptop. I really like this new laptop. Because it
always be helpful to me in various situations.

Besakih Temple

 Bali Besakih Temple is the biggest ancient Hindu
temple in Bali which the local people call Pura Besakih.

It owns beautiful view from the top of temple area

where we can see the wide nature panorama until to
the ocean so that way this temple
is popular and crowded by tourists from all over the
world. Besakih Temple is located in Besakih
countryside, Rendang sub district, Karangasem
regency, east part of the island.

It is located in southwest side bevel of mount

Agung, the biggest mountain in Bali to symbolize
the confidence and holiness. Bali’s “mother temple”,
Besakih temple, is over 900 metres up the slopes of
Gunung Agung. It has been regarded as a holy place
since pre-historic times in Bali.

The first recorded mention of its existence is from

an inscription that dates from 1007 A.D. Since the
Gelgel dynasty of the fifteenth century it has been
regarded as a central, holy temple for the entire island.
All the allegiances of the Balinese people come together
at Besakih. Each regency has its
own magnificent temple within the over-all compound,
as do each of the caste groups.

There is a total of unique 18 separate sanctuaries.

The three main temples are: Pura Penataran Agung,
Dedicated to Sang Hyang; Widi Wasa: Pura Kiduling
Kreteg, dedicated to Brahma; and Pura Batu Madeg,
dedicated to Wisnu. To the Balinese a visit to the
temple sanctuaries at Besakih temple is a special

pilgrimage. Each temple has its own unusual odalan or
anniversary celebration.

On the full moon of the Balinese month “Kedasa”

the entire compound of Besakih celebrates the visit of
the gods to the Earth with an enormous throng of
visiting pilgrims.

My Rabbit

 I have a rabbit. His fur is white and has black spots.
He has long ears and a short tail. He also has cute red
big eyes! My rabbit likes to eat carrot and other
vegetables. When I release my rabbit out of his cage,
he used to jump everywhere and hard to catch.
So, I could just put him on his cage because I'm
afraid that he might running away. I don't want to lost
my rabbit because I love him very much.

Panda

I went to the zoo yesterday and I saw panda for the

first time. Panda is the very cute animal I've ever seen.
It has little eyes with black spots around them. His body
is black and white colored. Panda's body is almost look
alike with bear. Panda looks like tame animals but it's

Panda eats bamboo and they almost eat 40 kg
bamboo in just one day. Panda is animal from china. I
