The course is divided into three terms.
The term work makes up 70% of the year and will be assessed
through quizzes, unit tests, informal and formal lab reports, and assignments. In each of these
categories, an assessment of student knowledge and progress can be made using teacher observations,
student-teacher conversations or products of student work. Each of the five units will use at least two
different types of assessment. The final 30% is to be made up through summative assessments.

Late work will fall under the school’s Academic Code of Conduct. Please refer to it for details of
completion timelines and marking. Students will also be assessed on specific learning skills, including
independent work, collaboration, organization, responsibility, self-regulation and initiative. Progress in
these skills will be indicated as effort grades and on reports.
