Frankie’s Knitted Stuff

Card Case
This little knitted case is big enough
to hold a few bank cards or business
cards. It is knitted in 4 ply yarn on
2.75mm / US size 2 needles and
measures about 9cm x 6.5cm / 3¾"
x 2¾".

The case is knitted as one long strip and then sewn together.

The Front

Cast on 29 sts.
Work 36 rows in moss st. (K1, P1 to end on every row).
Next row: Knit.
Next row: Purl.

The Back

Work 36 more rows in moss st.


Next row: Knit.
Next row: Purl.

The Flap

Work 1 row in moss st.


Row 1: Work in moss st to the last 2 sts, wyib slip these 2 sts
pwise and turn.
Row 2: P1, P2tog, work in moss st to the last 2 sts, wyif slip
these 2 sts pwise and turn.
Row 3: K1, SSK, work in moss st to the last 2 sts, wyib slip these
2 sts pwise and turn.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until there are 11 sts left on the needle
including the two slipped stitches. This pattern, which is a
combination of attached I cord and decreasing, gives a neat edge to
the flap.

Buttonhole

Next row: P1, P2tog, K1, P1, cast off 2 sts in patt. P1, wyif slip 2
sts pwise and turn.
Next row: K1, SSK, K1, cast on 2sts, P1 K1, wyib slip 2 sts pwise
and turn.
Next row: P1, P2tog, P4, wyif slip 2 sts pwise and turn.
Next row: K1, SSK, K3, wyib slip 2 sts pwise and turn.

Cast off pwise.


Oversew the two side seams and sew on a button.

Abbreviations

st/sts stitch/stitches
K knit
P purl
wyib with yarn in back (hold the yarn at the back of the work)
wyif with yarn in front (hold the yarn at the front of the work)
pwise purlwise
P2tog purl 2 together
SSK slip, slip, knit (see below)

slip, slip, knit slip 2 sts knitwise (or knitwise followed by purlwise) one
at a time, insert tip of left needle into sts from above, put
yarn round right needle and knit both sts together.
