SPRAY LUBRICATION SYSTEM
1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
In the spray lubrication system the lubricant is sprayed to the lubrication point in drop shape by
means of pressure air.
Typical application points are open gear drives and support rims.
2 DESIGN
Note Numbers in brackets are part numbers of drawing 461529.
The spray lubrication system comprises of a SKF Safegrease 2 lubrication system which has
been equipped with spray nozzles (pos. 1) and connected to a pressure air system. The pres-
sure air system consists of piping, a solenoid valve (pos. 2) and pressure regulators (pos. 3). In
addition the system can be equipped with a pressure switch which controls the pressure air in
the system (pos. 7).
Spray nozzles can be fastened with brackets (pos. 6). (See also drawings 462050 and 460602.)
The SN-07 spray nozzle has connections for lubricant (L) and pressure air (AIR).
See SN-07-BS spray nozzle drawing 461517.
See SN-07-BS-U spray nozzle drawing 462028.
3 OPERATION
The control unit starts the lubricant pumping phase and opens the pressure air system solenoid
valve simultaneously. Pressure air is led to the spray nozzle via the pressure regulator.
Lubrication system doser feeds lubricant into the spray nozzle. From the spray nozzle, the
lubricant is moved to the lubrication point with the pressure air flow in drop shape. When the
pressurization time ends, the control unit closes the solenoid valve of the pressure air system.
4 SETTINGS
4.1 Adjustment of lubricant dosage
See SKF SAFEGREASE 2 / Doser groups / 4 Settings
4.2 Adjustment of the air pressure
The lubricant is broken into drops with pressure air flow. The air pressure is adjusted with a
pressure regulator. The pressure air consumption for one nozzle is 50 - 220 l/min (drawing
461516).

(t=20°C)
Lubricant Pressure range Air consumption / nozzle
grease 3.0-7.0 bar 120 -220 l/min
oil 0.5-2.0 bar 50 -90 l/min
Warning Oils get vaporized, if the pressure air pressure is higher than 2.0 bar.
Note The spray lubrication system uses pressure air only during the pressuri-
zation of the lubrication system.
