EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The "CaBalAka: Affordable WiFi for Effective Learning" project,
initiated by UniFi, addresses the digital divide at the University of Antique,
which serves over 20,000 students and teaching staff. In an era where
internet access is crucial for education and daily life, UniFi aims to empower
students by providing reliable, affordable internet connectivity, thus
supporting their academic success and bridging the digital gap.
Due to the university's location, students face challenges accessing stable
internet connections, hindering their ability to engage in online learning,
research, and communication. To address this issue, UniFi has proposed the
installation of Piso Wi-Fi vending machines in some areas of the campus. This
affordable and easy-to-use solution provides students with a reliable and
affordable internet connection inside the university. This initiative ensures
that all students, regardless of financial background, have access to essential
digital resources, creating an inclusive and effective learning environment.
The project envisions a future where technology is fully integrated into
education, offering students a seamless digital experience that enhances
learning opportunities without needing external, costly alternatives.

INTRODUCTION
In a time when digital connectivity is critical to both education and
daily life, students' access to the internet has become crucial. By providing
students with the greatest internet access, bridging the digital divide,
transforming education, and supporting students in their quest for
knowledge, UniFi aims to make sure that no one is left behind at this time of
digital transformation.
UniFi (Unity through Wifi) is a technologically innovated company that
specializes in wide-area connectivity for individuals, businesses and entire
communities in the Panay Island.
UniFi is committed to providing to individuals that want to enhance
their current service offerings within their buildings. One example of this is
the full-service wireless network installation support to commercial and
residential property owners in each municipalities of Panay. UniFi's main goal
is to help individuals specially students to foster the essence of unity through
wifi connection.
University of Antique is the chosen area for the project consisting of
over twenty thousand students and teaching personnel’s. Various connection
is a common problem due to the location of the school, because of this, UniFi
came up with a project proposal entitled, "CaBalAka: Affordable WiFi for
Effective Learning". This project aims to build a place where educational
institutions embrace digital learning platforms and integrate technology into
their curricula through a strong and equitable internet access.
Without internet, students are unable to obtain online homework
assistance, conduct independent research, or communicate with teachers or
peers. The solution to this issue is the UniFi vending machine, which offers a
simple and cost-effective way to access the internet because of its low cost
and intuitive design. They can enjoy inexpensive internet access and remain
in school rather than visit coffee shops or other locations with internet
connections and pay additional costs. This project will give students a cost-
effective and practical way to access the internet without having to deal with
erratic internet connections

PROPOSED SOLUTION
Our proposed solution, "CaBalAka: Affordable WiFi for Effective
Learning," directly addresses the connectivity challenges students at the
University of Antique face. This project will deploy a network of Piso Wi-Fi
vending machines strategically located across the campus.
1. Infrastructure Deployment:
We will install a robust and reliable wireless network infrastructure across the
University of Antique campus. This will involve:
High-speed internet access: Securing a high-bandwidth internet
connection capable of supporting a large number of simultaneous
users.
Strategic placement of access points: Deploying multiple Wi-Fi access
points in high-traffic areas such as libraries, classrooms, dormitories,
and common spaces to ensure optimal coverage and minimize dead
zones.
Redundancy and failover mechanisms: Implementing redundant
systems to ensure continuous connectivity even in the event of
equipment failure or network outages.
2. Piso Wi-Fi Vending Machine Integration:
The core of our solution is the integration of Piso Wi-Fi vending machines
(Unity C95). These machines will provide:
Affordable Internet access: Offering pre-paid internet access at an
affordable price point (Piso Wi-Fi) accessible to all students.
User-friendly interface: A simple and intuitive interface for purchasing
and accessing internet services, even for users with limited technical
skills.
Secure payment system: A secure and reliable payment system for
managing transactions and ensuring accountability.
Multiple payment options: Accept various payment methods, including
cash, mobile wallets, and other readily available options within the
community.

Real-time monitoring and management: A centralized system for
monitoring network usage, identifying potential issues, and managing
the vending machines remotely.
3. Community Engagement and Training:
To ensure the long-term success of the project, we will conduct:
Awareness campaigns: Educating students and staff about the benefits
of the CaBalAka project and how to use the Piso Wi-Fi vending
machines effectively.
Technical training: Providing training to designated personnel on the
maintenance and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure and
vending machines.
Feedback mechanisms: Establishing channels for students and staff to
provide feedback and report any issues.
4. Sustainability Plan:
The long-term sustainability of the project will be ensured through:
Revenue generation: Generating revenue through the sale of internet
access to cover operational costs and maintenance.
Partnerships: Collaborating with local businesses and organizations to
secure additional funding and support.
Community ownership: Engaging the university community in the
project's management and maintenance to foster a sense of ownership
and responsibility.
