PCAR Part 6

Accountable Manager (Maintenance)


The manager who has corporate authority for ensuring that all maintenance, preventive maintenance,
and modification required by the aircraft owner/operator can be financed and carried out to the standard
required by the Authority

Approved data
Technical information approved by the Authority.

Composite
Structural materials made of substances; including, but not limited to, wood, metal, ceramic; plastic,
fiber-reinforced materials, graphite, boron, or epoxy with built-in strengthening agents that may by in
the form of filaments,foils; powders, or flakes; of a different material.

Facility
A physical plant, including land, buildings, and equipment, which provide the means for the
performance of maintenance, preventive maintenance,or modifications of any article

Housing
Provide for the proper storage, segregation, and protection of materials, parts,and supplies

Maintenance release
A certification confirming that the maintenance work to which it relates has been complied with in
accordance with the applicable standards of airworthiness, using approved data.

Specialized maintenance
Any maintenance not normally performed by anAMO (e.g. tire retreating, plating, etc.)

8 hours
minimum rest period of a person who will perform maintenance function

12 hours
maximum number of consecutive hours allowed to a person performing maintenance function

16-20 hours
in situation involving unscheduled aircraft unserviceability, persons performing maintenance functions
for aircraft may be continued on duty

10 hours
following unscheduled duty periods, the person performing maintenance functions for aircraft shall
have mandatory rest period

24 hrs
the person performing maintenance functions be relieved from all duties during any 7 consecutive day
period
60 days
a request for deviation authority must be submitted to the authority at least _______

Maintenance Procedural Manual


it specifies the scope of work required of the AMO in order to satisfy the relevant requirement needed
for an approval of an aircraft or aeronautical product for return to service

Base maintenance Manager


responsible in ensuring that all maintenance required to be carried out in the hangar, plus any defect
rectification carried out during base maintenance, is carried out to specified design and quality
standards.
Quality manager
responsible in monitoring the AMO's compliance with part 6 and amendment of the procedure manual

Line maintenance manager


responsible in ensuring that all maintenance required to be carried out on the line, including line defect
rectification, is performed to the required standard.

Chief certifying staff manager


responsible for final disposition of rejected part including component of parts that have exceeded
allowable shelf life limits

Planner
interpret maintenance requirements into maintenance tasks.
