PUBLICATIONS AND CONFERENCES

Cambridge Element, Policy Advisory Systems in Autocracies, forthcoming

• Co-authoring a monograph titled “Policy Advisory Systems in Autocracies to be published by Cambridge
University Press as part of the Cambridge Element series in the 2024-25 academic year. Composed of 5 chapters
totaling 20-30,000 words, the Element will investigate the supply of policy advice in autocratic regimes. Through
comparative case studies of five major autocracies—Russia, the People’s Republic of China, the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia, Venezuela (Hugo Chávez) and Hungary (Viktor Orbán)—, this Element will construct a typology of policy
advisory systems in a variety of political contexts. In doing so, it represents the first holistic attempt to integrate the
literature on policy expertise, design and implementation with the inclusion of related works on rentierism,
autocratic diffusion, and democratic backsliding.
Center for Research on Globalization, Peace, and Democratic Governance (GLODEM), Conference (2024)

system. I also audited the IWP course International Relations, Statecraft, and Integrated Strategy in which topics of
geopolitical strategy, peace-building, and instruments of diplomacy are discussed and ethically challenged.
