LIFE IN ARKHAM
As all of the Investigators are residents of
Arkham, there are a few points of common knowl-
edge that Keepers may wish to share with them. The
town carries a reputation of being “witch haunted”
due to its role in the New England witchcraft panic
of the late 1600s. The town is home to the celebrat-
ed Miskatonic University. While not quite a member

Back in 1920, Gilbert Trask was smuggling li-

drivers, the Tartaglias had a policy with the Hud-

them with pre-paid bond certificates in the event their
drivers were arrested for a crime involving a vehi-

the Tartaglias later saw to it that no charges were

access to the member rolls, he is supposed to protect

If Investigators are too pushy with Mr. Murphy,
he will go upstairs and get Jason Gaspard, the or-

piercing eyes, long black hair and a goatee. If nec-

DiVincenzo is a mid-level criminal, formerly
involved with the Tartaglia family, an organized
crime organization based in Albany. For the past
five years, he’s been looking for Gilbert Trask.
Trask was working for Joey, driving smuggled
alcohol from Quebec into upstate New York. One
night, Trask had a seizure behind the wheel and
crashed a truck, and was hauled off to the hospi-
tal suffering from “amnesia”. The liquor was de-
stroyed and so was Joey’s reputation. Joey’s boss
had goons beat the hell of out him. They broke his
leg and smashed out a number of his teeth. All of
the teeth on the right side of Joey’s mouth are now
gold and he walks with a pronounced limp from
when they broke his knee.
Joey’s search for Trask finally moved forward
due to a tip from the O’Bannion gang in Arkham.
Meyer Golditz, an accountant for Danny O’Ban-
nion, tipped off Joey that Trask was in Arkham
and was spending a lot of money to have a package

THE CHRONOLYTIC CAPACITOR

Trask did much of the work of building the capacitor in the cellar of his house. The cellar door is locked
and Trask kept the key in his wallet. If the investigators have the key, they can go down to the cellar work-
shop. If they go without Munroe, they may find the matchbook useful in providing light. The capacitor is a
strange looking device perhaps the size of a small fish tank. It’s comprised of a wild array of rods, wheels
and mirrors. When examined, most persons could arrive at the conclusion that the device is built to include
a part that is not currently installed, though it’s hard to imagine what that part might be. The missing
piece is a one-of-a-kind convex mirror called il specchio di Melfi.
The Chronolytic Capacitor has no apparent source of power (i.e. battery, fuel tank, power cord). It also
has no apparent switch or controls — it is controlled by voice. No one other than a Timekeeper is likely to
know how to activate it.

to use the Flummoxer to destroy evidence and make
an escape from the scene.

Munroe, he can explain the Capacitor is missing a
special convex mirror that was supposed to have been
delivered yesterday.
The outcome most likely to lead to success is for
the Investigators to work with both DiVincenzo and
Munroe. If they can mollify DiVincenzo, they could
strike a deal to buy the mirror back. If the mirror can
be returned to Munroe, he should be able to fire up
the Capacitor and drive the Worms away and get
Trask back into the correct body. Investigators who
are in Munroe’s good graces could even be invited
to participate in the small invocation that activates
the Capacitor. But because of the secretive nature of
the Timekeepers and the Great Race, any interac-
tion is likely to end with Munroe at least attempt-
ing to Flummox the Investigators and Trask. If he
succeeds, Munroe will swiftly leave the premises and
remove any evidence of his presence, including the
Capacitor.
