Introduction
The purpose of this module is to make the student aware aware of the general and specific safety issues
related to the Access CT, Access Dual CT, MX16 and Incisive CT as well as the system power UP procedure.
Failure to perform procedures in a safe manner can cause personal or equipment damage.
This lab will provide instructions on how to power up the system to the point where the system is ready for
tube warm up.

In this lab exercise, the learner will perform system power up, locate the E-stop buttons

Instructions
Power up procedures

1. Use the gantry power switch on the right side of the gantry to
switch on the gantry. This will supply power to all the parts in
the gantry and the patient table. Once the power is supplied
both the GHOST and the RHOST will need approximately 30
seconds to boot up.

2. Press the power “on” button to power up the Host computer.

3. After the HOST computer has booted up, click “OK” to logon to
Windows with username “CT”. Note: always use the username
as CT with no password for Windows login.

4. The screen will become blue and in the lower left corner a start
button can be found. Wait about 2 minutes after the logon to
Windows and then press the start button and select “Access
Dual” or “Access CT”, “MX16” or “Incisive CT” depending on the
scanner type.

5. Next this login screen will pop up. Login as “CT” (no password
required).

Q1 - Did the gantry and / or the patient table move?

Q2 - If they did move, why did they move?

Q3 - If the patient table is out of the range (at mechanical outer limit – move the table all the way out
from the gantry), what would happen?

Emergency Stop Buttons

6. The red emergency stop buttons will power down the gantry and the patient table. The
emergency stop buttons are located on the gantry control panels (left front and right front,
MX16 also has control panels at the back) and on the Scan Control Box (CT box) on the
operator’s console.

Q4 - Which message is displayed on the CT box (Access CT/MX16) and on the screen for Incisive
CT?

Q5 - Is there any power to the DMS? Why?

8. Reset the system to clear the message.

buttons on the side of the patient table.
