Piping Material Specification

NOTES
63 Bypass valves less than 10" size shall normally be globe valves. Those 10" and larger shall normally be gate valves.
Exceptions require an approved waiver per Enterprise STD.0002.

74 Use for reciprocating pumps and compressors, spring loaded through 8", and 10" and larger to be installed in horizontal
position only.

109 If FEPM (Aflas) is used for seals instead of FFKM then the maximum temperature is 450°F.

118 Instrument bridles require S/80 min.

133 Normally used for specific UOP requirements only.

154 Pipe wall thickness was calculated based on: 285psig @ 100°F (SE=20,000, CA=0.125")

180 Sch 160 Requirements:

A. High point vents, low point drains, and instrument connections to be S/160 minimum through block valve.
B. Process piping to be installed as S/160 minimum to first valve or fitting (control valve bypasses excluded).
C. All swages required for the above applications to be S/160 minimum.

223 This specification is also applicable for MTBE and/or Methanol, equal to and less than 15 % with hydrocarbon. For MTBE
and/or Methanol greater than 15 % with hydrocarbons use piping spec 01CS310.

229 This valve is for centrifugal compressor discharge.

246 To use this specification, the Fluid Service Temperature must be higher than the piping MDMT. If it is lower for any piping
size, then a different piping specification that meets the piping MDMT must be selected for that size. In ASME B31.3,
piping MDMT is determined from Tables A–1, A–2 and 323.2.2A, and Figures 323.2.2.A and 323.2.2B. Fluid Service
Temperature (i.e., System Minimum Design Temperature) is defined as the lesser of the lowest system operating
temperature (including any design margin) or the local minimum ambient temperature (for cases where a pressurized non-
flowing system can essentially equalize at the ambient conditions for a significant period). The minimum ambient
temperature and the overall required MDMT for all pipe systems shall be determined by Project Engineering and shall be a
part of the Project Job Scope.

258 Use for vents, drains, and valved instrument connections

260 Use only if shown on P&ID.

286 Figure-8 Blinds above NPS 12 are not recommended because of the concentrated load added to the flanged joint and the
difficulties that can occur when handling the heavier blanks.

294 PTFE tape shall comply with Federal STD. A-A-58092, (formerly MIL-T-27730A). PTFE compound shall be certified to the
latest applicable ANSI and/or Federal standards.
